From what I have gathered is that there is a new ore and currency of ruby's or something like it. There is a new block in the bottom left hand corner of the second picture. Lastly there is a new gravel texture.
So if the currency for testificate trading is rubies as I believe it to be, does that mean we'll have ruby tools and armor? Or perhaps some other crafting usages?

My bro and i thought of this and saw that it says"no doubt they are being sized up for new shoes and fabulous prizes" new shoes= testificates wearing gear? just a thought .
If villages can spawn in all terrain now, PLEASE make some better terrain.

I would say you could make the new currency out of redstone (By smelting or putting it with glass in a crafting table), but then, what would the new ruby-type ore in the top right corner be for? I don't see why there's an upside-down piston in the background though...

No. The second number is the number of the snapshot. So since they didn't have one last week, it's still 12w20a.
why have they not announced the new block thats going to come in this snapshot? the one jeb announced on his twitter?!
He didn't exactly "announce" it, he simply said he was working on a new block, and that it would be in this weeks snapshot, he never said a name or anything of what it will be able to do or what you will be able to do with it.
