Good solid update really. Swamps are way more interesting now with witches and slimes. Now if only they could dry out deserts so they're not soggy beaches and add a few cave enterences in the desert areas instead of wall to wall ponds.
Oh and incase nobody noticed it yet. When you lay down stairs in a square pattern, the corners round automatically now so everything is smooth and you don't have to use a slab anymore if you don't want.
So the bukkit leadership, the people with the skills to create software that allows Minecraft servers to function nicely, work for Mojang, but Bukkit doesn't work for Mojang? Pretty clear that MP is still an afterthought, and that Bukkit, or at least the team members that matter, have been left out of the loop. Let's try to put this into prospective: Cobalt isn't going anywhere, neither is Scrolls. They are both essentially R&D projects with limited following. Minecraft is the breadwinner, and it's what allowed the fat bonuses enjoyed (rightfully) but Mojang staff. As a business model, you might consider putting additional effort into integration and timing. Projects have to have due date, otherwise, what you end up with are just empty promises. If I wanted empty promises, I'd buy a Microsoft game. Since when does Indie mean "disorganized mess?"
But I don't understand how a full team of top programmers need months to make a proper lighting fix, or a mod API. I mean, the people from Forge and ModLoader managed to make a great Mod API too, and they actually do it in their free time.
There is actually only currently two developers right now (atleast for 1.4.2) which is Dinnerbone and Jeb.
Everyone else is developing other games, like 0x10c, scrolls, etc.. For the mod api however, bukkit (I think?) was hired to make the mod API for them. This Loo guy is apparently suposed to be making it..And he is wanting help with it. So why don't you help him instead of whining about it here?.. So its technically not Mojangs fault that the API isn't out yet..
And this api is going to be a whole lot more complex that Modloader and Forge. This api is suposed to just, drag the mod into a box and it works.
Bleh...... this new update is just bleh..... I respect Jeb and Dinnerbone and the rest of the minecraft dev team, but this update really isn't all that great..... it's all a lot of unnescesary crap, and I'd really rather have say.......I dunno, mod Api and an in-launcher way to select previous versions of MC......not to mention the new sounds, they are ugly to my ears. All in all, 3/10, would not bang new update.

Mojang is paying him. That makes it his job, and Mojang's responsibility to see to it that he does it in a timely fashion, has the support he needs, and hires additional employees to assist him when and if it becomes obvious that it is necessary... You know, like two releases ago? My God people, they are still having discussions about what the API should be! In what way, as a paying customer, should I be satisfied with unfulfilled promises? In what way is Mojang NOT responsible?
Oh, and as I write this, I note that Mojang authentication is down, and I cannot even connect to servers running 1.3.2, let alone DL a copy of the latest updates.
and now waiting for login servers to be back up i read all these comments.... so many trolls and most of them definitly do not even read the updates of the snapshots like lighting fi being undone cuz of major lag and i mean some people still expect the sky demension?!?!
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I made it. Take a look. actually pmc took it down and gave me no reason as to why. if you do know why please pm me with the answer.
Do people not read anything being posted? They removed the Lighting changes bc it was causing more issues so they said they will add it in another updated and the API would also be a standalone patch (I think) or will try to get it in the next update

Sorry your not a paying customer you payed once.......... now if it was a monthly fee then your little QQ would be valid. Please by all means since clearly you know how to make a game and run it go do it yourself or make something better then MC.
Amazing but there is a bug that I'm VERY surprised didn't get fixed.
Skeletons wielding swords still shoots arrows... from nothing.
Well post it int he bug tracker lol are you sure you have the new 1.4.2 or the preview 1.4.2? bc I heard that the preview had some issues in it that the released 1.4.2 wont

Achievement Get! Bukkit Fail!

Not even close to the best update so far, you're just new.
I support gas pockets in MC (see thread in Suggestions)!
Mac's suck and nobody's afraid to say it... you should probably get a new computer if that one came with mac.
I made it. Take a look.actually pmc took it down and gave me no reason as to why. if you do know why please pm me with the answer. No, it is, actually, potatoes. It's also different depending on where you live, but as far as official English goes, it's potatoes.

If not then shut up and sit back and wait

Actually, it's both. And frankly, having listened to the potato song, I now have something new with which to "rick roll" people. My God it's annoying.
