today the mobs falling thru wood glitch killed my dear friends the Piglentons
jeb dinnerbone please fix this bug as soon as possible so no one else has to feel the pain i am feeling now
Not really caring for the Anvil other than as decoration. The cost is way too high. It's cheaper to just make and enchant a new item.
Easy fix... don't waste the crapload of iron it takes to make them.
Hard Fix.. Easier to see an example
Diamond Pick 2/3 damaged, no enchantments.
-- Repair cost 2 diamonds
-- Gain EXP equal to mining the rare materials
Diamond Pick near breaking, no enchantments.
-- Repair cost 3 diamonds
-- Gain EXP equal to mining the rare materials
Diamond Pick 2/3 Damaged, enchantments
-- Repair cost 2 diamonds
-- LOSE 50% of XP needed to make the item (based on minimum cost)
Item Rename
-- LOSE 5xp
Anvil Damage
-- Loses 20% of durability per 10 blocks dropped height, loses no durability if dropped from less than 4 blocks.
-- The player damage and mob damage stuff is OK
-- 200 uses for repairs
-- Can be repaired in forge with iron ingots, add 20 uses per ingot
Everything else in the update seems pretty cool. Still not liking the swiss cheese effect the insane amount of caves that get generated does. This isn't minecraft anymore it's cavecraft.
Please for the love of all that is holy stop whining about the API. It takes a whole redesign of the code to get it to work right and I don't know about you but I don't want most of the stuff that has been added to be broken when it does come out. It will get done.
Personally I would just rather see native support for higher resolution texture packs and a neat little custom world gui where I can adjust all the world generation settings. You know like adjusting sliders to determine what percentage of the world is land, how many caves get generated, biome size and diversity, etc, etc.

I can see where you are going with this. I agree, but I kind of see how Mojang was thinking. Maybe. I don't know really, but maybe they were going with a... nope! I fully go with you, except for gaining XP. It's just another way of gaining XP. We have plenty of ways to obtain XP. Why don't they give us 50 levels when spawned? I know it's not much XP, but, I just don't want another way. Seems too easy. Other than that, I totally agree. Anvils seem to take a random amount of damage when dropped, and it annoys me. I feel naming does need to be cheap too...
Apparently, according to Jeb's tweet, the update comes out on the 25th now, and it will be 1.4.1 not 1.4. Cos apparently they finally found the animal suffocation bug, plus have fixed a few extra things too.
For the most part, i think the new release is pretty cool. I haven't seen the witches yet, but i look forward to it.
I do have a couple complaints...
First, why not INCLUDE the sounds with the client, instead of having them download while playing the game? I still haven't gotten all the sounds back yet.!
And secondly, who decided to spawn slimes in the overworld at such an incredibly ridiculous rate? I swear every time i turn around there are slimes spawning everywhere!!!

I wish i could turn that feature off.
Light up the area so aggressive mobs won't spawn, and slimes won't spawn either. If you want aggressive mobs but no slimes, make your mob spawner in a non-swamp biome.
My thoughts on the xp and resource cost on anvils is that, in the case of enchanted items, it allows you preserve something really valuable such as Protection IV Armor or Silk Touch tools, without having to gamble repeatedly. That said, it sucks that there's a price cap. If you combine up some amazing armor, it looks to be hell to repair it, if you can at all.

Thnx! I won't bother replying on reddit as I don't know what to say. I did think you were talking about an actual map though XD
