Sound is a little off
Chickens emit a click sound like static on a record (CDs of the 1950s-1980s).
Pigs sound like they walk on hollow ground.
Sheep sound OK
Cows some like they way tons on hollow ground.
Edit: Oops, bats need sound and they look like crap.

The sounds are not cut in stone. Also you make a bat for Minecraft, that's up to your standards then. Nobody expects you to like everything, C418 has other things to do right now. Critique the sounds and offer your thoughts, without overall being crazy about it. If people did that overall, instead of just hating them / sending spam to C418. We might actually see reasonable sounds in the game, that enough people can enjoy to keep the masses silent.
Make something on Reddit, that would at least help be a solution? There's a lot of people out there I know, so it's not possible to make everyone happy. Sounds are always the most difficult, at least they try to fix things. Most would leave the sounds as is, then move onto something new. Or opt to make it a DLC to change.
While I welcome this update, the new sound effects are mostly unfitting or too realistic for a blocky/cartoonish game, some of them came from Tekkit/Technic:
walking on sand blocks = I feel I'm walking on wet sand or mud
grass = sounds like dry sand or hay
stone and cobblestone = yay!
wood = tiles or some housing flooring, I can even hear the shoes making the noise.
dirt and gravel = wet gravel
glass = okay (placing them = glass breaking sound... strange?)
water, when you fall in and when you approach = too realistic
Enderman: really, it needed some noise when he opens his mouth and roars... but this? It best fits in a 3D Doom/Quake-ish game.
Spider: a disgusting awkward walking jelly
Skeleton: is it just bones or bones, pieces of metal, iron wire, sticks and wood? because it can hear all these when I hit a skeleton.
Yes, I do agree with you. Even though Jeb has made really great updates, but some things just need to stay original. The sound effects are.. meh. And, the new sounds will probably get a lot of discussions and outbursts. Add new stuff, and bug-fixes, but please preserve some of the Minecraft we know and love.
That's hilarious that people seem to think MC is an RPG xD I guess it can be an RPG, if you use the sandbox game to make it so. Role Playing Game doesn't = Minecraft. I love the bats, they seem so neat! and i'm sure someone will make a mod that'll let us have them as pets, maybe have a bat sitting post and have them seek out ore thats like, at most two blocks deep with echo location :3!
Hi, I got the new update and noticed the log placement change. I love it, but a suggestion would be to either have a choice in the options menu or only place logs sideways while holding in a certain key.
Kinda wish the witch had been a neutral mob you could trade with, to get potions.

Instead of spewing a bunch of blah blah blah, this sucks, how about you leave a suggestion, instead of the cynicism. The snapshot is only a test, and not final, so things can be changed.
Yeah! Why the hell are they updating the game once a week?! I want to go back to the old days when they...oh wait, that's right, back then they updated once a week too, they just called it "Secret Friday" and didn't collect feedback on whether people liked it or it even worked. You know what? Carry on guys!

you obviously have no idea what it takes to run a competitive server when the hosting company is frickin updating every month. It makes it a constant "juggling act" to keep up with plugins and keep everything working correctly. Jeb should just leave well enough alone for crap's sake.
Or you can simply go to another version because we like the updates and some people have to be total dicks about it all the time and hate everything new.
No one cares if you have to update the server.All the servers have to,deal with it.
Now,don't want the new snapshot,stay in 1.3.2 or 1.2.5 or whatever.No.One.Cares
Someone tell Jeb to frickin chill with updates. my home server was just put out of business thanks to his useless meanderings with insisting to keep trying to force a sandbox game into the mold of an RPG. It will never work and he is quite frankly ruining Minecraft. I want 1.7.3 back thank you very much.

I Do see how this guy feels... When running a server dealing with updates can get frustrating at times, especially when plugin creators don't care to update their mod in a timly manner, and i know you guys hating on him should see his point of view...
With that said i remember when the updates didn't actually add anything new and felt like a waste of my time.. but it seems those days have passed, and each update provides something to look forward to...
Nobody says you need to update your server as soon as the update is released... on our server, we run the older version untill all our main plugins have been updated as well, and our players are smart enough to know how to run multiple versions of minecraft, so it's not like they miss out on their RP server, while still playing with the new updates...
If your players are leaving just for the update, they arn't very dedicated, now are they....
On that note...
Where are the dragons?!?! we want dragons!! bahahaha
