For everyone getting the done loading screen when they try to load up minecraft you have to delete you original jar before downloading the new one

so i swapped my files and when i click on login in the client it says: Updating Minecraft and below that: Done Loading what do i do?

I realy need Help. I am using mac leopard and I cannot get the pre-release to work. I can get into Minecraft, but once I make a new world or go to an old one, I loads, then when I would drop into my world, the screen goes black, sits there, then flashes an error message, then goes back to black. Someone Help.

Ok, maybe delete the .minecraft folder, backup the things you want to have (note that mods won't work because its 1.8)

JUST BACKUP YOUR SAVES.

Don't do this. You need to have everything downloaded via 1.7.3 first, then replace the minecraft.jar that's already there, with the new 1.8pre one.

first i reccomend copying your old .jar files then go to bin delete the minecraft.jar replace it with the downloaded 1.8 minecraft.jar and voila, your playing minecraft 1.8 ;]

It does work for macs you put the download into a a folder called bin. This folder is found by clicking the Finder Icon on your dock. Then click library then applicaton support. after that look for minecraft.You will see the bin folder there. when you place it change the minecraft.jar to minecraft2.jar and your downloaded file to mincraft.jar. if you don't understand how to open folders or any thing else i said go to this site

Unfortunately, when I try to smelt some wood into charcoal, it crashes my game. Other than that I love what I see!

You only have 2 drag the minecraft jar you downloaded and delete the old one. no need to update.
