To play it you have to put the minecraft.jar that you download into your bin folder but delete the other minecraft.jar before you do so ! and it has to be named the exact same thing as your old minecraft.jar
K, a few things to talk about in my opinion. Ok, so since the biomes are now larger, and meld more decidedly/ gradually, will world seeds now change? As in, if I were to make a world with a seed prior to this update, and then I tried to make a world with a seed after this update, would the worlds actually be different?
Also, is it just me, or does everyone else get less of a sense of fear (in the manner that one associates with creepers), and more of a sense of wonderment, in regards to Endermen? ... I think they are so mysterious...
anyone out there who reads this post can i have help it wont work i can open minecraft but it gets stuck on updating minecraft done loading plz respind if you have help
Now this is my second bug report.
Now i get an immediate "Saving chunks" screen for one minute (Strange because no chunks even loaded yet)
And then a black screen.
Expierence epicly lag if you've been playing forawhile... Me and my friend cleared out a cave system that went like 100x300 blocks of mineshaft, cave and ravine. Then he fell off our cliffside house and the server was nearly unplayable. It took FOREVER to collect them and make the game playable.
Debug info does not show correct "chunk updates" number, just duplicates current FPS instead.
And now I realized that "Smooth Lighting" was lagging for me since 1.7 (or maybe even earlier). In this beta beta it lags even more, as supposed to be =)
Jens and Notch havejustannounced that the 1.8 pre-release .jar is available for public testing. It is important to remember that this is NOT The final release of 1.8, and is still extremely buggy. NOTICE: This version will only work if you've paid for Minecraft, all the more reason to step up!
I loaded my existing world (after backing up) to see how things work.
On OS X, this version seems to run much more smoothly than before. This is super-great.
The other thing I noticed is that when I went to check on my monster trap (the popular one with the reverse swastika at the bottom) and found it wasn't working at all. After investigation, it turns out that endermen were spawing in it, pulling blocks out randomly, and screwing up the water flows. Water was leaking all over and completely ruining how the monster trap was supposed to work. So... that's something to work on... doh.
