it does.. what you have to do is download the zip for the pre realease and put it in your bin in your minecraft folder!!!! just did it now i didnt think it would work :D!!!!
if you dont know your minecraft folder is at yourname>library>application support>minecraft>bin

I made a 1.8 public server the IP is 98.238.84.116 , its a server where you can do whatever you whant but like on every server absulutley NO Griefing or stealing (they will recieve the concequences!). (more minor rules will be posted in the spawn area) have fun (:
For those of you moaning about having a good pc and having rubbish FPS try allocating minecraft more memory as per this link below by Biowar http://www.buxville....ft-Memory-Usage did it on mine as it kept reaching the memory cap and was running low FPS and now with this it is much better ;P
Allocating MORE memory is half the problem, Java over allocates the virtual space which causes freeze and crash issues with the x86 java VM, you want to allocate less memory if you aren't able to use the x64 vm.
Very simple to install i have windows 7 so first what you want to do is open your start after dling the client version.
In the start search run and type in %appdata% should bring your to your .minecraft folder.
Open the folder and go into bin
In this file just copy and paste the minecraft dl file into here and delete the old or just replace it
i cant get it to work.... i sign in and it goes to the mojang logo ... then to the textured back ground but that is all i get... then it goes to black :(... has this happened to anyone elts
This works! just press the "windows button" + r then u write %appdata% (with the % sign!!) press ok...
then u open the .minecraft file... then u open the "bin" file
from here u need to the delete the file named "minecraft.jar" and replace it with the one u downloaded here
don't worry... it will all get back to normal if u update minecraft

I had a porblem not manageing to delet the file... because java(TM) SE binary was in use.... then i just pressed CTRL + ALT + DELETE - task management - prosseses (not sure if that is how it is in english xD) then i ended the prosess called "javaw.exe *32"
then i could delete it
