This may be an answer to those whining about lag and bugs. When they released this PRE-RELEASE UPDATE, they only gave us the minecraft.jar file. There are other .jar files in the bin directory that minecraft uses as well. I am guessing that some of the crafting routines are accessed from these files. And since the files currently in your bin folder are still for 1.7.3, 1.8 can't use them and this may be the reason for some crashes.
As far as the Enderman sounding like zombies, the minecraft.jar they gave us calls for sounds from the resources directory. Which does not have the Enderman sounds in it for obvious reasons. WE ONLY HAVE THE .JAR FILE. So the coders temporarily made the Enderman use zombie sounds. I am sure that there is special sounds for these mobs. So we will just have to wait for the official release to hear those creepy sounds.
Its is nice that notch has posted 1.8 pre release but it has way too much bugs and i personally wont use it.But its a good thing because Notch can fix the bugs before the release
Also, can I safely install this without royally ****ing up worlds I have created 1.7.3 when I uninstall it again (fire replacing non-existant item id's and such)? If not, I'll make it portable minecraft especially to try this out.
You know, just disregard all of that I can simply install it anywhere on my harddrive using the principle of portable minecraft.
I'm dissapointed about the update , i have a good computer and i have around like 10 fps , i play 1.7.3 , this update just .. i don't teally like it :tongue.gif:
I love it. I haven't had any crashes but I've been playing on NEW maps. The servers I've tried have new maps as well. If you're crashing, try creating a new map.
SO far, awesome. The lighting is awesome. The new biomes are awesome. The vines, awesome. I can't wait to see what they have in store for 1.9! Now if only they release the release release 1.8.
