Go to your .minecraft folder (on Windows) and go into bin. Take the old minecraft.jar and place it somewhere (for backup), then place the new minecraft.jar in the folder. Vua-la.
I've got a problem. I repalced it with my jar and now when i go in it imidietly says done loading but stays on the downloading page. And i've unistalled and reinstalled 2 times!!!!! Please help!
Okay, so it tells you that there's "a tutorial 'here'" so I click the link. It brings me to like page 4 of this topic, which contains 0 tutorials on how to install it.
I pretty much figured the point of it was to replace the .jar folder in your .minecraft folder with the new one, so I did. I deleted all the old crap (after backing it up of coarse) and ran minecraft to generate new files before replacing it. After replacing it, I ran minecraft again. Only to find out, that in the top left, no matter how hard I try, it's still version 1.7.3. Well maybe this is a bug I thought, maybe it doesn't say what version it is for some reason. So let's try and make a world and play this long awaited update.
FALSE, it just doesn't do anything. Same old thing I've been playing forever. So if someone could explain what may be causing this nonsense, that would be amazing, because I've wanted to play the update for a very, very long time.
hey dudes a little bug it has uh i made a book and when i went to put my book in my chest (note i only had one book!) when i clicked it to drag it to my chest i was able to right click a milloin blocks and fill my whole chest!!!!!! please fix P.S I ONLY HAD ONE BOOK
That's just a dup glitch that will probably be fixed.

so anyone else start a new world like me, then end up boating through an ocean for over 50 mins... im loosing my mind... its just... water... everywhere
