To Download, click on the link that says client for, once its downloaded open up your downloads folder and find a .jar file named minecraft.jar, on windows go to run from the start menu and type in %appdata%, then click ok. Then click the folder named .minecraft, then go into the folder called bin, and copy and paste the mine craft.jar into this folder, click replace if it prompts you to. On mac, the instructions are the same, but the minecraft folder is instead located at YOURUSERNAMEHERE/library/application support/. Hope this clears up the confusion.
This is what I did, I crashed upon creating a world. Assistance is appreciated. Oh, also, how do I put an actual signature? I always just post the picture.
I would like to report that when I tried to make charcoal using planks as fuel but minecraft crashes the moment the planks begin burning. Just wanted to report that other than that...OMG it's great.
This is the pre release, the normal version become super buggy and so to make testing faster they released this so the players can play 1.8 while they test for bugs!
all you have to do is type %appdata% in run on your pc the go into minecraft then bin then delete the minecraft folder at the bottom then replace it with this file
personally i wouldnt know since im using mac and i dont have any crashes but are you running with a clean minecraft folder? thats just my guess. or you might not have enough memory or something cause it has such major lag issues.
Honestly, I don't think lag could cause a crash... And yes, I am running a clean .minecraft folder. I think I have enough memory, although it does lag quite a bit... I just REALLY wanna play this. My friend doesn't know about the pre-release and I wanna tell him what it's like.
Only issues I've seen so far are lighting glitches on top of chests and I'm unable to eat anything. I tried raw and cooked, put it in my hand and right clicked. Nothing.

do you have full hunger? if you do you cant eat anything. also you have to hold down the mouse button not just click it like before
This is great, and I have barely started using it, but I have a bug to report. I had a stick that refused to stack, I don't know where it came from, and when I tried to cook chicken by using it as fuel, minecraft crashed. I cooked chicken previously with coal, and it was fine. Has anyone else had the unstackable stick issue?

If you read the previous pages you would know that that isn't working for some people.
