No I believe LadyPashta meant to say zombie. Mobs can now pickup items that are on the ground. For example, zombies can pickup the rotten flesh of a fallen comrade.
this snapshot is unplayable for anything beyond messing with new mobs/items on the surface, if your world doesn't die in a forest fire. literally 90% of every region consists entirely of lava, you could not even maintain your diamond gear through caving this way. you're lucky to dig through a single chunk without having to fill in a lava pool, they must have mixed up the nether world gen algos with the overworld, or something.
I think I know what this "hidden feature" is. I was perusing the new .jar when I saw a texture in "mobs" that made my jaw drop. They're re-adding/adding Pigmen. If you don't believe me, look for yourself.
The Pigmen were always there.
