I think I know what this "hidden feature" is. I was perusing the new .jar when I saw a texture in "mobs" that made my jaw drop. They're re-adding/adding Pigmen. If you don't believe me, look for yourself.
sorry, but thats been in there since the adventure update I believe.
IS the secret adjustable feature the map? Cause now the maps are now empty maps and you have to right click on them. Wen you put them into a item frame it shows a green arrow. The maps are also zoomed in so you can see details.
Jeb, you've really blown me away with this update. Usually, seeing the snapshot releases, I'm not too interested with adding in random things. But, something that I've always loved is aesthetics. This new snapshot looks amazing, you really are doing a great job!
THE SECRET IS... I don't know, but I want that WITHER ARMOUR!!! Maybe possible rainbow leather armour? Also swinging sword whilst invisible doesn't show swing whilst in 3rd person. Now, everybody admit we don't know the secret (except the Mojang team or only one of them).

Nothing matters until you at least acknowledge that your engine is terribly broken.
They know the rendering engine and such are terrible. Wasn't it said they plan on redoing a lot of things? IE: Sound engine, etc to make things actually work better? This has been around for a while really. I've seen chunks missing and seeing through walls, etc. There's so many things they want to fix, which is why Jeb does his things and the others do their own. The API was the most talked about, and thus the main focus right now. Afterwards I believe they would at least then focus, on key issues that have been plaguing the game for a long time.
You can take what I say with a grain of salt, just I've read the API discussion logs and more. I'm only able to understand so much, given not everything is said all at once. For the sake of getting everyone's hopes up, to then have it come crashing down on them. This is possibly the first real game company, that despite a huge player base look for new ideas. They don't hold their head above the clouds, believing they are superior because of anything.
I'm looking forward to new implementations of things, a few things here and there were from modders. Now we have the Reddit users actually offering ideas, all the time honestly and they get adding new things into the game. I don't see it as a major issue and yes a lot of bugs / issues plague the game, but still it's not as if they ignore the whole problem. There's mostly set goals right now but still, they allow for some deviation to add new things. It's why even though people gripe over new additions, they eventually come to either accept them or ignore them.
It's basically the same thing as with mods. You either use em or ignore em, there's nobody forcing you into using anything. You don't even have to play the game like everyone else, that's the fun about the whole sandbox kind of feeling really. There's a lot of sandbox kind of games, just this seems to be fun for a lot of people. Also with the free demo and Classic mode, there's plenty of try before you buy. Keep up the good work Mojang staff, I look forward to all the new additions.
Is anybody else getting an error when trying to implement the snapshot into the minecraft bin? I'm being warned that 7-Zip can't find 7zEA159.tmp\aux (actually, the last few numbers before .tmp changes every time I attempt implementation). I'm not sure if the snapshot didn't come with a few needed files or what.

Wow seconds ago this was not here, refreshed the page and BAM its here. Hahaha thats cool.
If you think the forum is fast, you should check Mojang's site. It's where Sach gets the info and writes it here if no one read it at the site :S (Note: Not all news. Only the Minecraft stuff news)
Ummmmmm, they've already acknowledged this. Jeb or Dinnerbone even said that the API can't be completed until the rendering engine in the client gets a complete overhaul.
Do people really not follow Jeb or Dinnerbone on twitter???
