No blakblaster, they are Endermans. Notch got the name from the meme "Slender Man" which was mentioned to him as people saw these mobs similar to "Slender Man".
Everyone keeps saying there hostile mobs, has not a person thought they might be neutral mobs? Or even allies? They seem to be able to pick up blocks, and there's going to be ruins and villages this time around, so whos to say these aren't npcs, and there collecting blocks to build with?
I know they will probably be hostile mobs, but with the ability to hold blocks, I can't help wondering if it is possible for them to be part of NPC villages. Or even to have hostile NPC villages, with zombies and creepers living in them and endermen building them... or something like that.
I hope they won't just take apart your house. At least maybe they wont take apart blocks that are lit, so that when you make your house you need to make sure that the outside has torches has well. Though that means finding coal is a true life or death situation. They would also probably end up dismantling the "mob traps" people make. Enjoy the gunpowder/arrow/bone/feather farming while you can, cause Enderman is here to protect the creepers!
if it can build maybe they will build like giant temples and have huge amounts of them 0.o i cant even think about how bad that would be
