perhaps it's my mud monster I suggested (inverse of a creeper more or less) that can throw sand blocks at you to effectively build a ramp over a wall for other monsters to climb.
These creatures are most likely hostile (pretty obvious) and that they can interact with the environment. Whether it is to place or remove blocks, they still make me think of "hostile griefer bots."
Also, I don't think those things are not DIRECTLY hostile, and that they just mess up a portion of the world (targeting maybe common building materials). The reason why I think this is because none of the creatures seem to stare at the character playing (unless he/she is using noclip of something).
Notch is probably one of the only people that reveals things at the right time. He just caused me and everyone else to speculate what is going to be released.
the left one is holding a block of sand, and in the brightened image, there's another one in the background holding grass. so it not gonna be specific for a biome, and if they throw blocks at you, then it not gonna be just sand.
BTW if they throw blocks at you by picking them out of whatever they can find, then beware. THEY WILL DISMANTLE YOUR CONSTRUCTIONS block by block
Great, notch, you just took minecraft to a whole new level of scary, this is compared NOTHING to the nether. They will appear in groups, they will chase after you while floating, and they will stand in a group outside your house, rip your blocks, throw it at you. And wait till you die.
What would be cool is if when they saw you they looked at you with their glowing eyes then disappear in a *poof* of smoke, leaving the block they were carrying to fall to the ground.
