"Farlanders" seems about right for these guys though. Think about it, they are odd creatures not of this land, such as Farlands is not of this "world" we call Minecraft. You think that a backstory could be that they came from the Farlands? I mean, considering how long it takes for you to get to farlands, it would make sense you only now start to see them appearing.
i personally cant wait for the 1.8 release thease new mobs look fun to play with not to mention the possibility's of herding them and watching to see if they will make anything.

Passive, until you place your reticle on them, when that is done they will turn and stare at you.
When you turn after the events of last fact, they give chase a a high speed.
If too far away, they will teleport to a visible region to get you. (muahahahaha!)
