I must have spawned in an archipelago biome, there's nothing but ocean and small islands in every direction. I do like the new fighting mechanics though, and the endermen are nice and creepy. They're easy to kill as well, all you have to do is hop in the water. Also, I'm pretty sure rain kills them (I spotted a few over a hill, then it started raining. By the time I got over the hill, there were just ender pearls there.)
Spiders have a bit more fight in them (they seem to pounce a lot more now) but creepers, skellies, and zombies are the same.
I loaded minecraft 1.8 onto my server today and was testing it with friends. The first problem we encountered was an out of memory error for the client of my friend, this kept occurring on and off. The next problem was every time we used a furnace it crashed our server. 1.8 seems to be using too much system resources and is posing a real problem. My greatest concern is with SMP, the experience orbs are a really bad idea, as when a player dies they drop all their orbs, for some reason it glitched up so bad that my whole server which is running on 1gb ram with only 2 people on at the moment was brought down to 1 frame per second as the experience orbs creates way to many objects on screen. I think ill have to find a mod to disable this as every time a player dies, experience orbs nearly stop the server. As of the time of typing, i am still trying to gather all the orbs which took me 15 mins to walk to in the first place. Experience would work so much better if it was numbers like iconomy plugin for bukkit works, not actual objects. This is really, really buggy
In creative mod, if you drop a block from your inventory, then drag the same block from into your inventory, then pick the drop stack up, it shows that you have 2 of that block, but you still have an infinite stack.
Sometimes when joining a server, it rains underground. It seems to only happen in the chunk you spawned in and it fixes itself when you update the blocks around it.
This is so cool the creative mode is so fun!
Eldermen are very creepy. I saw one in a valley and i was on to of a mountain and it teleported to me... so apperently they have an extremely good vision.
1.8 is bomb
Also the pre-version will work for macs, heres how:
1: download the client
2: open finder and drag the pre-version to your desktop
3:go to finder/username/application support/minecraft/bin
4:take the file marked "minecraft.jar" and drag it to the applications tab
*If you have modded minecraft, drag out the unzipped as well as the zipped minecraft.jar
5: put the new minecraft.jar that you just downloaded and drag it into "bin"
Congrats! You've just installed the 1.8 pre-version!
System: windows vista
Mode: survival single player
Bug: chest don't have "cracked" animation while breaking
Recreate by: breaking a chest (mine was with hand)
When I installed the .jar into my minecraft, it gave me the options for different modes and the regular title screen, but the hunger and exp bar are not appearing.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Is this the part where I put a cliche signature? Yes, yes it is.
also, my hunger bar won't go down anymore. i was only at around 3 meats from full when i ate again, so i dunno what did it. I did eat some zombie meat earlier, maybe that did it?
on creative wen i placed a chest down and opened it my minecraft sound just disapeared and was silent and wouldnt come backhttp://static.minecraftforum.net/public/style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif
