It appears to be lots of bugs. It was smart to release a pre-release so you could have the massive amounts of players find the bugs so they can be fixed prior to launch.

With the outstanding response from the community on the pre-release of 1.8 (you have downloaded it, haven't you?), we've set up a special page on the wiki where the bugs you find should be reported. This will give Mojang a specific all-inclusive place to look and fix them.
I was about to melt som iron ore, and then what happend was, that the game started "saving chunks" and after it was finish the window became pitch black, this happend on survival mode.
There's a lot of bugs. Right now, I can barely get to my house without the lag making me almost immobile. The Server, especially, is really buggy. I can destroy blocks, and the come back instantly, and it takes several tries to get it to finally stay destroyed. Creative mode flying makes it lag in a way I've never had to deal with before. The monsters inch towards me sometimes. Also, this one was really bad: I died from a creeper explosion, and my friend and I couldn't go back to where it happened without the lag making us immobile. I fixed it, somehow, but if we die, it seems to have a radius or something that you can't enter without that lag. The lighting is really off on some blocks. There are these giant mountain chunks placed down on flat areas that are about 60 blocks high and flat on all four sides and look like a world hole or something, but they actually exist.
I'll report anymore really bad ones if I find them.
I'be been playing survival and sometimes when I put stuff in the furnace it will take me to the default dirt screen that says "loading chunks" then it goes black. So I have to restart minecraft and it works fine.
Your computer sucks everyone. My endermen work fine, the game doesn't crash when I smelt anything, it doesn't crash with any video option, it does lag SLIGHTLY when I die, and cooking the new meats don't crash. BUT, I will agree with the painting blacking out, spiders rendering clear, and weird-ass right-click sword thing not working. Perhaps what you guys are saying is you have SMP problems, but who needs SMP, this is meant for SSP.
No snow biomes - 22 worlds, 15-25mb per world searched.
Enderman get stuck when attempting to reach a player on a cliff overhang.
Enderman die in the rain (maybe a feature)
Enderman will not cross water (again, maybe a feature)
After putting anything in a Furnace to cook, (i.e. Cobblestone, Iron ore, anything) as soon as I drop the item into the cooking square, I immediately get a message saying "Saving Chunks." After about 10 sec, I get a black screen, and I must exit the game and restart the game (Re-login etc.) Its quite annoying cause I work with stone alot, and I must cook cobble to get stone.
Not sure if this is a bug necessarily but I have yet to find a mountain anywhere with trees growing on it. Haven't seen any of the old lush mountains, perhaps its a biome thing that I am not seeing, but there is a lot of barren land.
Also, mountains seem to be rendering almost as bad chunks. Just weird, misshapen mountain formations.
Now I KNOW that 'nvoglnt.dll' is to do with Nvidia Drivers & I also know I do NOT have the latest version installed (I have 258.96 while latest is 280.26)
Here's a summary of my PC specs that might help
<<< System Summary >>>
> Mainboard : Asus P5N-E SLI
> Chipset : nVidia nForce 650i SLI SPP
> Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 2666 MHz
> Physical Memory : 2048 MB (2 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM )
> Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS
> Hard Disk : WDC (400 GB)
> DVD-Rom Drive : Optiarc DVD RW AD-5170A
> Monitor Type : ViewSonic VA1903wSERIES - 19 inches
> Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 3
> DirectX : Version 9.0c (May 2010)
Now before anyone says - update the video drivers... I can't
- Each time I try the Nvidia installer it 'fails'. In fact I am unable to install ANY drivers that use the newer NVidia setup.exe installer [this was first used with 260.99 IIRC].
I get a window up that show 'system check/Licences agreement and options all 'ticked' (even though I don't get a chance to even agree to the 'licence' or even choose my 'options' - meaning I can't even select a 'manual install') & I've also uninstalled/'safe mode'/re-installed drivers - with no success
- I've also updated to the latest JAVA as well - but that doesn't help either.
- I've deleted & done a force update to reinstall a clean version of 1.7.3 Minecraft before copying over the 1.8 minecraft.jar
- I've also tried different Minecraft launchers (& I AM a registered user, so not using a hacked version)
BTW - Minecraft 1.7.3 works fine with no problems so I know it's not the installation or launcher that's the problem

Is this some sort of blocking feature?
Also, creepers behind vines won't attack me, as long as the vines are between us.
I made it. Take a look.actually pmc took it down and gave me no reason as to why. if you do know why please pm me with the answer.-
