i wonder if the pyramid buff thing is part of what they meant by "more competitive options for multiplayer". i can certainly see it being used in pvp. archers, for instance, could stay near it while shooting at longer-range targets, so they would get the buffs while their enemies dont...
Speaking of zombies, it seems that they now have an attack animation. I encountered a zombie with an iron shovel and attacked me. I'm not sure if only armed zombies have the attack animation, though, but I doubt it.
This all sounds really good, but at this point I'm more interested in not dying every time I go through a portal because the game isn't loading right. Look it up under gameplay bugs on the wiki; there's a lot of examples of it.
Zombie or not, the villagers still remind me a bit of the Rito from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. About time though, that the villagers become zombies rather than just die. Even better that some of the zombies have armor and weapons. I doubt a warrior turned zombie would have bothered to remove his armor, let alone, still have the coordination to do so after transformation. Seems logical for at least some to have blades and protection.

It isn't Notch working on the game anymore. It is Jeb. Notch has stated that aside from a few minor things, he is satisfied with the path the game's development is taking. And on the contrary, survival has just gotten harder.

This isn't an update. It's a snapshot. So enjoy the 1.3 update until 1.4 comes out (which will be quite some time from now.) This isnt a forced update.
