Idea for adventure map makers. The beacon block can be used to mark objective locations. When a block is placed on top of the beacon block, the light stops protruding out. Use pistons to push a block on top of the beacon block to let the player know that they have completed the objective. You can use pistons to push the block out of the way too if you want a new objective. Use pressure plates or levers to mark whether or not the player has reached the objective or has completed the objective. Hook up the pressure plate or lever to the piston that controls the block that will go over the beacon block and boom. You can now make objective markers.

Or it could be used in a CTM map for a sort of beacon monument instead of using wools
Sorry to side-step, but here is my thread on slimes. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1422206-new-liquid-slime/
Seeing your sig with the colored glass, I completely agree that that should be added, and you might find my thoughts on slime to be of a similar aesthetic nature.

It's a spambot or spammer. Don't react to them and hopefully they'll go away.

Challenge accepted!
I've got 64 bit and no problem. A wild guess here. Maybe you need to update java.
A double resolution graphics pack that stays faithful to the originals.
It also makes good aesthetic detail!
