Downloaded and tested. Now, my computer does not give me high fps. Using 1.7.3 the average is 15. Using 1.8 pre-release, however, gives me 1 fps. One f**in' frame per second!! If this is how it will be, I'm (sadly) not updating once 1.8 will be offically released. I also experienced terrain generator glitches. Please, notch, for the sake of your fans, don't make minecraft into a game which can't be played on a laptop. Because it would mean me not being able to play minecraft anymore - and hundreds of other players out there.

Remember that this is a "PRE-RELEASE" version of the update, and that it is STILL VERY BUGGY! It is expected that most of the issues that are posted in the Known Bugs/Version 1.8 page of the Minecraft Wiki. Also, what "terrain glitches" are you talking about? You should see if anybody else has had that (or those) glitches by checking the mentioned page. If not, post them!
Is it just me or has the drop rate for eggs increased, i was playing for 20 mins and i had about 10 eggs.
It's not that the drop rate increased, but animals are more persistent and don't de-spawn as quickly as they did in 1.7.3. So since they have longer "lives" they will be around to lay eggs. If you fence in some chickens you can even start an egg farm! Unfortunately animal breeding isn't in 1.8, but you can have some fun with the persistence.
Since this is a prerelease and buggy, your saves and worlds might get deleted once the final 1.8 comes out and all those bugs (and exploits you, well, exploited) will be fixed.
Found myself a feature not listed. Holding right click with a sword will hold the sword out to block. I'm guessing it prevents damage from mobs, probaly does damage to the sword.
