One of the smaller changes is stone slabs can now be placed in the top half of an air block without the need for a block above it. Something that makes me happy because I have OCD when it comes to slabs. =-=;;;One of the smaller changes is stone slabs can now be placed in the top half of an air block without the need for a block above it. On SinglePlayer when I tried to change my gamemode to adventure mode all it gave me were these options: Survival, Hardcore, or Creative. Maybe A bug, or is it just for multiplayer?
Not a bug. Starting a new map in Adventure mode is dumb. All it does is disable the placing or breaking blocks, so all you could do is walk around till you starved to death.
The point of adventure mode is for map makers who want to make adventure style maps. Currently all they can do is tell players to not do it.
As for xp, currently it seems to be set to a fix amount per level. (Before, it was like 7 x last level) So, yes you will gain levels fast right now. Think will likely be balanced before the final release.
The snapshots can potentially destroy your save games, even though we try our best not to do that. Only use them if you know what you are doing. To “install” a snapshot, you download the JAR file and replace the one located in your “application data” folder. The easiest way to find that folder is to start the game, select “texture packs” and click on the “open texture pack folder” button. It will locate “.minecraft/texturepacks”, and the JAR file should be placed in “.minecraft/bin”.
To UNINSTALL the snapshot, start the launcher (Minecraft.exe on Windows) and click the “options” button. Then click on “force update” and login as usual. The launcher will then download the official JAR file for you. Note that save games created in the snapshot may not work (and probably doesn’t) in the official version of the game.
OR
You can use the Minecraft Profile manager and create a Separate minecraft folder for snapshot testing and they will never touch your legit copy of minecraft and no uninstall will never be required again. This way you will be 110% sure that your saves and mods are safe from being damaged due to testing the snapshots.
i cant wait for the next update (not snapshot)! this is so buggy i tried the last snapshot world and it just got ruined theres nothing in there.
i tried a new world laggy but fine exited, went back in and i got spawned at my spawn and watever i did was gone,i tried to explorere the place so i used the map and my map froze and chunks stopped loading so i cant explorere new chunks and i couldnt play minecraft because of that!

I would suggest options on the 'mining' functionality to be possible to adjust for adventure mode...
There will be times where you don't want to break blocks with your hands, but do want to with a pickaxe, and not able to break it with anything else other than the required tools.
So in adventure mode, there should be checkboxes that changes 'blocks require proper tools to break'.
So:
Default: Blocks can't be broken or placed.
Tool Mode: Blocks require specific tools to break and can be placed. Durability of all blocks is greater, and requires higher quality blocks to break.
This means you can't fist punch trees, dirt, sand, and cannot use a sword on impropriate blocks.
In MP, I wonder if adventure mode can be applied to player's gamemode, not the server's gamemode like the current one does, so you can have several players be "Roleplayers" and a single "Dungeon Master" in creative mode.
In Tool Mode, you cannot break stone with a wooden pickaxe anymore, the wooden pickaxe is used to dig clay and cobblestone.
But if you can't get a stone pick to break stone, doesn't mean you can't find other means to attain the item, like villages or treasure chests.
Btw, with the world generation atm, there will be chests sealed into rooms that players wouldn't be able to get into in adventure mode, as stone is blocking the way.
Also, digging for flint should give you experience then, and redstone and lapis lazuil because they break apart.
Heck, why not just make all ore be able to drop multiple pieces and not allow to be placed as blocks?
Iron 1-2
Gold 1-3
Coal 1-2
Flint 1-2
Then add experience gain for digging up ores.
Once you dig up ores, it makes sense that they are broken up and as such can't be placed.
Cobblestone is technically stone glued together using cement of some sort, because once you dig out stone you get fragments which can't be used to place blocks... Sooo, what if you can change the idea of blocks broken gets turned into fragments which you can use to 'rebuild' the blocks and place them again?
It provides a lot more materials to work with in a better form...
Stone Fragments from digging stone can technically be a cheap form of ammo, you can equip and right click to toss a stone to do 0.5 damage and it can have a slow flight and short range (heavy falling)... Maybe make it do up to 3 damage if dropped from high above.
The issue is that you can mine a mountain and have infinite ammo to pelt zombies and creepers with rocks from high above....
I found a "bug".
I am an Austrian, so i play with the german language pack. I played Creative and watched the new items, so i also looked, how they are named. The Block of Emerald is called: Block of Emerald instead of "Smaragdblock".
The Adventure mode isn´t still finished i guess, because you can not start a game in Adventure mode.
But its nice piece of work.
Man, the update was great, lots of cool stuff, but also there's A problem.
Experience from Ores are totally unbalanced!! I just got 40 levels in less than 5 minutes collecting Coal o_õ It sometimes gives 1 orb, sometimes 3, that's too easy =\ and since the enchantment level was decreased, now it's super Easy to enchant.
Want to enchant all your tools (including wooden tools that you has just crafted)?? So, go mine coal and come back with tons of experience!!
Hands down to 1,3 as best update by that I mean due to the huge improvements;
If this was iron man the update would be the extremis upgrade.
If this was Ben 10 this would Ben getting the ultimatrix.
If this was barbie world we would be introduced to ken.
If this was the smurfs, another girl would be moving into the village.

The only bug is that they drop string if you put blocks under them.
Thank god, waited for years xDDDDD
