Redstone Torch in Creative Menu got changed? I thought Jeb put it in there intentionally to make Redstone building easier.....
Can't argue with all these great features though.
I have worked out what bothers me about new gravel texture. It is remarkably similar to the stippled metal sheeting on tool boxes and the base of utes ( Ozzie two door light trailer trucks, favoured by tradies and farmers because the stippling stops slippage ). So in my mind it's a metal texture. Odd at the bottom of a lake.
I will say that it can be hard to identify in low light. Other than that, it's a clear-cut improvement. It looked very much like pixelated vomit before.

"Don't pay any attention to the critics. Don't even ignore them." -Nicolas Negroponte
Played with it for a while, just wanted to share what I found. (Some of these may be for other snapshots, I just wrote everything I saw)
- Strings can be placed on top of eachother.
-When you hold down right click for placing string, the first one lays on the floor fine, but when the second one comes, it rises up from the first.
-(This isnt a bug) Emerald Ore is called "Emerald Ore, Eh?"
-Alot more lighting glitches, it seems.
-Maps not working at all.
-Tading sometimes gets mixed up.
Ex-
18 wool for 1 emerald
(Places emerald in the trading slot)
9 cookies appear as the outcome (Which, btw, was my previous trade with the same villager.)
- You know what I just noticed? Iron Golems attack everything but creepers... Hmmmm.... Suspicious.
Am I the only one having some problems finding animals on superflat adventure maps? There don't seem to be any spawning, only monsters which is really annoying because I have spawn in my pork and leather and stuff. Bug or new feature?
[EDIT] NO animals seem to spawn on superflat no mater what gamemode you are using

For those of you who are complaining about the MMO and RPG features of minecraft I would like to remind you that minecraft is still a game where you can do anything you want. at all. you do not HAVE to enchant things, you don't HAVE to go to the end, or the nether, you don't HAVE to complete the achievements to advance in the game, sure you get rewards for doing these things but nothing that you really NEED. So those of you complaining about these features, just ignore them, don't use them, play minecraft as you always have, the old minecraft isn't gone, its just been added to.

If you're in adventure mode, and can't break blocks, how do you get emerald ore? Or do you have to kill animals with your fists and trade meat for emerald coins?
So if enchantment tables no longer enchant up to 50, how WILL we be able to do it? I hope someone makes a bukkit mod to undo this change. I like having swords with knockback and fire. I honestly think the whole enchantment system was poorly designed anyway. Pointless to even use it now.
I am very excided about this new update, there are so many new features. I look forward to the mod API, but these will satisfy me until then. Keep up the good work! :-)
As far as EXP for ore, if it would be possible, it would be great if the amount of EXP gained from gathering the ore matched the level of difficulty getting it. So for instance, coal would give very minimal EXP, while diamonds would give a massive amount of EXP. That way people are rewarded for their efforts to find the rare ores such as diamonds and emeralds.
It would be great if the same could be applied to creatures hunted. So animals would provide a minimal amount, common hostile mobs would provide medium amounts, and Endermen would provide a large amount of EXP. I say taht for Endermen because they are a major pain to kill, even with the best equipment.
I think the reason why EXP from ores works the way it does is because the different items are set up in groups. So the blocks that drop items are one group, the ones that drop blocks are another, and so on. This lets them mak a general change, then make ore detailed changes if needed later on. Or at least that is my guess at why things are the way they are. It may not even be possible to change things like I suggested above depending on how things are set up.

It is not the weapon that makes the warrior, but the warrior that makes the weapon.
If I downloaded this snapshot and so did my cousin, would we easily be able to join eachothers singleplayer maps? Or is the SSP/SMP fusion not in place yet?
As for Enchanting, I think it means the max lvl of enchants are level 30. So any enchants that required a level above 30 (like lvl 50 chants) now only require level 30. At least that's how I understood it... >_<
(Exp for mining, how new is that? I haven't played in 7 months...)

At any given moment those red pixels could be either polkadots or hearts.
On SinglePlayer when I tried to change my gamemode to adventure mode all it gave me were these options: Survival, Hardcore, or Creative. Maybe A bug, or is it just for multiplayer?

You must use the in-game command /gamemode 1 <playername> because you can't create a world yet that is adventure. Make sure you enable cheats when you create the world

Its a jungle temple. Not really my idea of a temple.. More like a weird looking structure, but the treasure is good.

Monster eggs are the blocks that spawn silverfish if you break them.
Woah. 10 mins into my first singleplayer map for this snapshot and I'm level 25. Needs to go back to level 50 I think or maybe 40.
<EDIT> Like 20 mins into the game I am level 45. The Xp is just too easy to achieve now. Also mining lapis and redstone is almost 1 level every ore you break haha.
Then I have a goal for you. Try to get to level 1000 and enchant everything you have. I think its better this way, you dont have to kill a trillion mobs to enchant level 50 diamond sword and get knockback II.
The foot note of emerald ore is " Emerald Ore Eh?"
Canadian eh?
I <3 this snapshot!
BUG: Whenever you press "F" the chunks are reloaded, really annoying for ppl who use "F" to sneak!
Change it to shift like most people have it? or make it R or V or C or something...
I switched my language to Canadian English, I saw that, and I had a little chuckle.
If you look at the bottom of the language in only canadian english it also says "The dark secret of the beginning of Minecraft will be revealed." Not sure if they changed that though.
So I loaded a creative world from w21b, and all the villagers I spawned turned into zombies and starting attacking the natural villagers. No idea why it happened, but it was funny as hell.
Maybe they finally made it so zombies dont kill the villagers but turn the villagers into zombies?
I suppose it is a long way off, but minecraft is; 1. Too easy. 2. Has a lacking feature of progression. 3. Forcing SMP servers to run modifications that could simply be apart of vanilla MC.
1.Its easy, but thats why theres mods and hardcore mode.
2.It has a lack of feature progression? You mean you think theyre not adding enough stuff?
3.thats ur problem.
Although I half agree with those who are against my idea for what I suggest would impact everyone significantly. I don't know.. maybe I am just tired of knowing that you can basically get diamonds, and anything else you would need to succeed in Minecraft in a very short time frame. If we are to enjoy Minecraft for a long period of time we need a system that stretches out the current features. I feel levelling is just the feature we need.
I don't mind people disagreeing with me
If you think minecraft is too easy or not enough things to strech out the game then thats your problem To me minecraft is a never ending game of wonder. I only play survival mode, I made cities, kingdoms, ships, etc... And with mods it adds never ending adventure.
And with the mod APIcoming out in 1.4 i feel it will make awesome modslike the aether and twilight forest to seem like little piddly things.
uumm... i mined coal ore that was in the extreme hill biome with a wooden pickaxe, each time i mined one i got 1 coal and 1-3 experiance orbs... not sure whats that all about, maybe a bug?
If you read before posting you would know its been added.
When I tried to change my gamemode to Adventure mode it just said Survival, Hardcore, or Creative. So that's another bug you guys should to fix.
Type /gamemode 2
You cant just choose the gamemode in more world options. That might be fixed later on though.
Can't argue with all these great features though.
Although... why does anything drop anything in creative mode? It's unnecessary.
Whatever, all the same, great snapshot, Jeb.

If it wasnt for Mojang there wouldnt be any mods >.>
Remember Mojang made the game. So technically the mods are copying Mojang.
