Turning singleplayer into private multiplayer seemed like a pointless thing to do.
Yes, it was, I keep getting internal server errors thanks to Jeb's jackass idea of merging the two f***ing servers together. I updated and this is what I get? I might as well just play something else if they're really sticking to this horrible idea.
When I looked at my calendar this morning... I nearly lost it, I was so excited. When I got the update... well... lets just say that MCNostalgia was the next thing I downloaded. For me, 1.3.1 means- All redstone contraptions=broken. Computer=Very, very loud. The new features are cool, but the whole forced multi-player thing makes me want to hop on a plane directly to the Mojang office and disable there power until they agree to make it optional.
Whenever I try to load any world (1.2.5 conversion or 1.3.1 new world) my game crashes!!!!!

Okay, so I created a new world, I opened it to LAN, but no one can connect to me. Everyone is on the same router as me, I can connect to their LAN servers, but they can't to mine. It always says 'Refused to connect' or 'Cannot connect'.
Players before update : OMGOMG IT'S GOING TO BE SOO COOL 1.2.5 SUCKS !
Players after update : Wow.. this is crap ! Remove x thing.
But anyways, nice.
I agree with that annoyance, why is there always whiny complainers that just seem to whine just for the sake of it! Being young isn't an excuse though. As not only are there adult whiners, but I am only twelve, and I don't ever whine about it.

It is optional. You have to turn on the LAN server in the options menu in a world before it turns on.
Broken? Then fix them! It just gives you the chance to reinvent them!

A pointless thing? It was required for the Modding API! It was also required for bug fixes! Go play another game if you don't like the direction the game is going.

Haters gonna hate...
You are not simply "turning it on". It is always running- you are just opening it to other players. Sorry for being a hater :/ It actually drives me nuts when people whine- but the 1.3.1 update drove me to do it.
The 1.3.1 update is now live! Your client should prompt to update automatically - if it doesn't you can manually update the version from the launcher by pressing the Options button before you log in, and pressing the "Force Update" button. While the update is 1.3.1, the only significant changes from 1.3 were some minor fixes and obfuscation.
Changelog:
The block-breaking animation is now shown while the GUI is hidden.
TNT no longer does damage to players in peaceful difficulty.
Respawning in superflat is no longer random.
Added rotatable Wood blocks
Strongly decreased the amount of Experience you get from furnaces
Depending on difficulty, creeper damage is scaled now
Bug Fixes:
Fixed a few misalignments and oddities in the item spritesheet and the creative mode's inventory's graphics.
Fixed a crash bug.
Fixed the chest armor slot being inaccessible in Creative mode's survival inventory tab.
Fixed rotated wooden logs mined using Silk Touch enchanted tools dropping as rotated wooden logs.
Fixed being unable to place half slabs in the small gaps between another half slab and the side of another block.
Bugs:
There is a visual bug when trying to push someone off a cliff, they fall off then warp back.
Sometimes when pushing someone off a cliff they do fall - you are not meant to be able to push people as of 12w23a.
It appears to be a server-side feature only, yet has not been applied to the client so far, as you can still push mobs or other entities in singleplayer.
It also appears to be a PvP-only feature. In SMP, you can still push mobs and entities too.
When standing still in the same place as another player the other player glitches about.
Player occasionally gets hurt from touching a wall mainly when being pushed by water into a block.
Player can be damaged when standing in front of a villager attempting to open a door. This may tie into the suffocation bug listed above, or might be something with the way the villager opens the door.
As always, you can check out the full changelog at the official Minecraft Wiki (click here!) - more updates, articles and videos will go up today. Keep an eye out!

when its you see a list of deferences when logging into minecraft the bottom one said "removed herobrine". we know herobrine isnt real becuase notch said so but do you think its possible that herobrine could actually be real and is some sort of virus.
Well, I was excited, until... I created a nether portal, went to the nether and back with no problem. It was when I went back to the nether, as I came out of the portal on the other side, that I fell through the world. In fact as I was watching the screen to delete the world, you could see dozens upon dozens of pigmen falling. It is as if the nether totally disappeared.
The main thing that really ticks me off is it was my HC world. Had a great castle built, had a blazerod mill in the nether, crops, livestock, a great mine system then lost it all.

hey i think it was a good idea. although it may not be working right now (due to it being the first day) but you can have help in your single player
yes i know the 1.3 isnt the best update yet but be thankfull for even getting minecraft. thanks to notch and jeb and mojang minecraft is one very popular game. yes 1.3 kinda sucks and thats why i was wondering if i can get a downgrade back to 1.2.5
Minecraft simply no longer works on my machine.
I load up a 1.3.1 world, I spawn below bedrock then crash.
Mobs lag horribly, and crashes are very frequent.
1.2.5 crashed a bit cause I have a reeeeealy bad computer, which is probably the problem, but I have a feeling
that minecraft may no longer work properly on generally slower machines.
I'm not hating, just saying what happened and what might become of it.

I had the same problem, I teleported as usual to the nether to work on my blaze farm, then I fell through the world and lost ALL my supplies. I'm kinda pissed and I've been experimenting jumping back and forth through the portal. It only seems to happen like 1/3 times going to or from the nether for me. Sometimes when I come back to the overworld it happens and I can see all the mobs falling through.
That being said, I like the nether chests and all the other neat stuff that was added to the game with this patch, but I wish I hadn't just lost it all through the bottom of the nether.
