Really people? Its an entirely separate console, and if they do not have it already for PC, why would they get on the forums? I for one am glad it is coming to Xbox because now i can play more Minecraft. My only worry is that if it is only for kinect, because I don't have one. I also wonder if people who bought pre-beta get it for free? Didn't Notch say that buyers get all future iterations? I think it is Xbox only because it is still considered an Indie game isn't it?
i dont see what the problem is? i think its great that i can play it on portable devices, computer, and xbox. becouse on the portable i dont need to carry around a laptop so when im at work on a break i can play a bit of minecraft same with at school and on the xbox i can play with my freinds. so either way no matter what happens you dont really have anything to cry about.
This is terrible. No more PC minecraft? I bought the beta version for 20 bucks so that I'd be able to get the REAL game for a lot less when it came out...but I don't have an xbox, and I have no intention of buying one. Goodbye texturepacks and mods. This sucks. Go suck an egg, mojang.

It's still going to be available on the PC/Mac computers. It's just going to be available on Xbox 360 ALSO. Not sure why people think PC/Mac support for Minecraft is going to go away....
.. Sigh. For all things, you had to do it for Microsoft. Unlike most of the people on this forum, I'm not upset that it's moving to console - That in itself could be a very good thing for Minecraft. However, Notch chose a company that's notoriously hard to work with, and that very well, may not get the updates up often. I think Notch also made a poor choice in choosing the Xbox. I'm not saying it should've been released on the Wii, but.. Maybe it could've been for the DS or something slightly more affordable? This requires you to have both Kinect and an Xbox, which can get pretty pricey. =/ That aside, I'm somewhat doubtful that this console version will even make an impact. Many Xbox users have very specific likes when it comes to games from what I've noticed (like first-person shooters) and they may not be as willing to switch to an indie game. Also, the lack of modding in this console version will detour a LOT of the original Minecraft fans, due to the fact that it makes the game more exciting for them. That's one of the few great things about the PC Minecraft - You can change the game yourself in nearly any way you want, if you have the know-how or find a mod that you want. That being said, I do hope that Notch doesn't go through with this, because I can see a contract with Microsoft as being a (possibly) very, very bad thing. Don't give into the Man, Notch. D:
This is my first time visiting these forums and it will also be my last.
All of you people are horrible.
You all realize that this is game that you have nothing to do with. If the dev wants to put it on an Atari 2600 what ****ing difference does it make to you? jesus-****ing-christ
You guys don't have to worry about Xbox owners coming and making these forums awful, you people are already ****ing retarded. It can't get any worse than it already is so who cares?
And to be honest, how can any of you be retarded enough to think that Notch releasing Minecraft on a console will affect you in any way? At most it will bring an influx of new people to these forums and perhaps the PC side of Minecraft (because they would want to mod the game too) and they can't be any worse than you guys already are. It might even become a boon for you guys, in that some talented people might end up here and create something pretty cool mod-wise.
It being on a console is also a good thing because it will bring in extra revenue for Notch and that means he'll be able to hopefully continue coding and updating Minecraft well after it's release. He won't stop or slow down updating because of the console version since it's a separate group of people working on it, just as there's a separate group working on the mobile version.
Calm down, sit back and look at things rationally before you scream and gnash your teeth in nerdrage. You'll still be able to sit in your parent's basement playing Minecraft and picking Cheetos out of your neckbeard.
Wow, judging by the stereotyping and ridiculous claims being made in this thread, no doubt bringing Halo and COD "fanboys" to these forums would only raise the level of discourse. Seriously Notch, with fans like these, who needs enemies?
NOTCH SCREW YOU!!!!! MAKE IT FOR PLAYSTATION TOO OR YOU ARE SERIOUSLY GOING TO REGRET IT!!!!
I don't I'm that mad. I'm just a little peeved at it not being multi-platform (PS3/ 360), but I'll get over it. I still have my PC version. Besides, if they feel like bragging about it, we still have plenty of our own exclusives to rub right back in their faces.

"I don't plan to add a new dimension at the moment. It's just to performance heavy on servers, and the current dimensions need more attention before we start adding new ones." < Yeah, like biomes or actual varied terrain in the nether. Nether ruins didn't do the trick at all.
This is the one time I am disappointed with Notch, I personally have a Playstation 3 and this makes me very mad considering I play PS3 alot and Minecraft. I've played since 2 days after Minecraft was up. Lets let Notch know PS3 players want this too.
Honestly, you've killed Minecraft more than those that are Xbox fanboys. And the game isn't even out yet for it. You're sitting here going "OMGZ NOTCH UR DUMB I'M SMARTZ Y U PUT MINECRAFTZ ON XBAWX 2 MANY FANBOYS GONNA TROLL" while you yourself are doing no better that you think they'll do.
The only thing that concerns me here is the alluded-to cross-platform compatability. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say they SHOULDN'T be compatable. Console Minecraft players and PC Minecraft players will be playing different games, with different controls, different network performance, and (probably) slightly different features and/or parameters. Remember when Microsoft was experimenting with cross-server play between a PC FPS and a Console FPS? I don't recall the exact game they used, but the results were sadly predictable (keyboard+mouse smokes console controllers every time). Someone playing on a PC is having a completely different gaming experience than someone on a console, you can't just smash them together and expect them to be equal.
There's also a lot of talk here about the potential "clash of the fanbases". Saying either group contains more idiots than the other is subjective and silly. BOTH groups have extremely vocal segments of idiocy that may or may not be in their respective majority, but they do a good job of seeming like they are. In most situations, stupid people are loud, and smart people are quiet. Both groups contain loud stupidity, but they're not necessarily the same BRAND of stupidity. And mixing the two may just make everything worse, as many here seem to fear.
So don't mix them. Don't let console games connect to PC games, don't let XBOX fanboys and PC fanboys come together in the first place. Keep them separate, and BOTH groups will be happier for it, socially and logistically. Not everything has to be connected. Sometimes keeping things separate is better for both groups.
Assuming everything gets mashed together anyway, though, it should still be easy to install a simple mod or something to keep console players out of PC servers. So it's not like this whole issue is an OMG-END-OF-WORLD scenario as some people think it is.
