I'm glad that the snapshots for the upcoming release are working on fixing the excessive grinding needed for powerful enchants as of 1.2.5. I really like the idea of EXP coming from useful activities other than killing mobs. And in this snapshot, it's good to see the EXP system moving towards balance.
But as of this snapshot, it's still a bit too easy to get to high levels. I'd recommend the following changes:
Mining coal should give exactly one EXP. Not two, not three. The EXP from mining a typical 16-block coal vein should not exceed the EXP from killing a dungeon full of mobs. Reward should be proportionate to risk or at least to effort.
It seems smelting EXP has been nerfed in the latest snapshot, which is good, but it's still overpowered (and arguably too spammable) as a source of EXP. I'd go so far as to recommend that the only smelting that gives EXP be ore smelting (to make up for iron and gold ores not being worth EXP when they're first mined).
Even after this, it might still be worthwhile to ramp up EXP per level a bit more for the higher levels. Of course, adjusting this is the hard part.
Everyone saying that boats go faster after double-tapping space. try it in a minecart I bet you will get the same results. if you double tap space in the boat while in creative you begin to fly. which is why your view changes. Try it in survival mode (/gamemode survival)
I believe you guys should stop wining and asking when 1.3 will come out. It comes when it comes. Also, don't wine about performance issues. They are test versions. Additions in those versions aren't completely optimized to give the best performance. Simply put it, if you don't like a snapshot, then DON'T DOWNLOAD IT!!! Would you like 1.3 to be plagued with bugs, or would you like to give them time to iron out those bugs?
I found a bug in this snapshot where the bonus chest in jungle biomes attempt to spawn in leaves. When the world is generated, the chest fails to generate and the items in it appear.
QuantumCreeper, sorry i wasn't able to get back to you on that until now. What you do is on the top-corner on the right-hand side, there should be a button saying "File" click it and then go down to the option saying "extract" click it, agnowledge what the extraction wizard does, and it should be extracted.
I spent 5 seconds and typed "bucket" into the search box in the upper right corner of this page, and found out that you're the first to find this.
5/5 for finding a new bug, but minus several million for not utilizing the search function.
the bug was in survival and i learned it was temorary,as i got an extra bucket then it somehow dissapeared when i wasnt looking.
i think it has something to do with the press esc and exit out of that and your world freezes temporarily.

oh and when i mean the world freezing i mean nothing reacts. squids fly, animals dont move you go through them, water doesnt update, chunks dont load so youll kind of be at the "edge" of the world and if your in creative youll see the caves. like that.

What does "The max distance has been increased to 40 blocks" mean?
It means that the length of string that can be placed between two tripwires have been increased to a length of 40 blocks. So that will be very useful for Adventure Maps.
I wonder who all has found the bug where half slabs make you slide around when placed on ice. Meaning the quality where you slide around on ice also applies to half slabs when they are the block found on top of them. I've known about it for a long time but I wasn't sure whether or not that was made to do that on purpose.
But as of this snapshot, it's still a bit too easy to get to high levels. I'd recommend the following changes:
yes that would be cool

How many times do we have to say the mod api is coming in 1.4
Source please? I haven't heard anything to this effect & have been listening for it.
