The idea that mobile games should change makes no sense at all to me. The idea of experiencing 'core' games on them is stupid. Will you really enjoy playing Heavy Rain in five to ten minute bursts on the subway? Can you really effectively tell a story, or engage the player when they have only a few minutes to play? I use my tablet when I travel because it's a lot lighter and quicker than my laptop when I'm travelling. The games I pay on it? Zookeeper, Angry Birds, Elder Sign, Karakosoft. Would putting joysticks on my tablet make it better? Perhaps, but I have my doubts, I think it would just add weight. That concept can stay in my living room where it belongs. What developers NEED to be doing is the same thing Nintendo did by making the DS, create forms of software that match the medium instead of awkwardly trying to can experiences we get elsewhere.

that and alot of really complex games drain battery life like crazy, when i think of mobile gaming the first thing i think of is battery life. [which is why i hate the vita] and second is mobility. i like to have a small console that is lite and lasts a decent amount of time between charges.
my ipod has very poor gaming battery life, but the shear amount of stuff it can do still makes it one of my favorite devices. i don't just game on it.
