Thank you Mojang for letting us play 1.9 early, but im not downloading,i prefer to wait to the official 1.9 release,i agree with Mr.Xyrothryu, great mods like millenaire and aether mod should just be added to vannila minecraft with little or no changes
Had the time of my life inside a truly massive ravine. Sis and I squealed like little girls when a skeleton shot at me.
What I don't like though is the swamps. The biome color is much more fitting but the transition is horrendous. And could someone give me a picture of the NPCs?
It seems a few people don't understand why there will be a 1.10, this is because software versioning does not follow our standard way of counting - for more infomation read this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_versioning - I know it is not the most simple explanation - but I can be stuffed finding the really good description that is in one for my books on programming - I just ask, that you trust the fact that Notch and his team know what they are doing.
If after reading the wiki link you still don't get it and you really want me to break it down for you, just ask in here and I will (when I have the time).
Hey i need someones help....On the minecraft.net..i wanna join my brothers
Server but it wont let me because we have the same ip.
What happened to the button that used to be under it and said ''You have the same ip Click here if it doesnt work''
PLEASE PUT IT BACK I WANT TO JOIN THE SERVER TERRIBLY BADDLY.
If there used to be a button, then just downgrade back to 1.8.1.
Although, I don't know what button you could be talking about.
If Notch keeps everything he currently has in the pre-release (Squidward NPCs, horrible biome transitions, more useless items) I will literally stop playing Minecraft. This game is just losing what made it the best game ever, it's uniqueness. Now it's just turning into a generic RPG-type game. What have you done, Notch?

For some reason i can't get servers working on me...I can't bring up a login on the downloaded file or startup/whatever... It says windows can't open minecraft.jar (the downloaded file).
I donno if you meant that as a bad or good thing, but he is releasing 1.9 this fast because it is a part of the adventure update (1.8 to which ever version will be the last of the adventure update). So you see why he is releasing this quickly. Plus he has to do finishing touches on the game before November release date.
what is up with people saying 1.10 coming out soon 1.10 is relay 1.1 we are not going to 1.10 we are going to 2.0 after 1.9
As someone pointed out software version does not follow our standard way of counting. For example: if a anyone has a PS3 and lets say software(firmware) version 4.09 came out, the next obvious choice after that is 4.10. Not 5.00. Seriously guys, I know it's hard but research this stuff before you comment. Also, Notch has made games before he's not dumb he knows what he's doing.

The NPC's name and look will most likely be altered in full release of 1.9. They're mostly dummy or test NPC's to see how the coding will work for the villagers. I doubt they'll look the same and with all the feedback we've given them already with the pre-release they'll probably tweak it up. Minecraft was one of the best games not because of uniqueness but rather simple fun and additive. Also keep in mind when we purchased the game awhile ago we got it as is, which means Notch wanted to turn minecraft more than stay at home surviving and mining. He wanted people to explore there world, adventure out. Have it actually meant something and by giving the food meter, experience bar, NPC villages and what not it's looking to be a nice hybrid.
I can't even update to 1.8 and then 1.9 Pre comes out.
Edit: Guess what. The .jar file is 1.9 MB.
The rest of the patch looks great though.

I love the way the swamps are looking so far. I can't wait to see the finished product.
