There's one thing that is puzzling me: You can't have water on the nether because it "evaporates": Okey, i get it - the nether is supposed to be really hot, hence the water evaporates...
...but...
WHY can we go there naked (without armor) and not suffer any sort of injury? Can someone explain me this one?
Where is the logic behind all this?
Do note that i'm only talking about the toon itself...for sure there will be alot of other stuff that won't make sense to exist in the nether with those conditions, IF that's the logic (to much heat in there) that mojang is applying behind the concept of water not being possible on the nether.
We'll probably have this if Notch's idea of "Realism" sliders ever get added in. Where you get more dehydrated in deserts, and can get hypothermia in winter biomes if you don't cover up or get indoors. Not sure if that idea was dropped when the added hunger, though.

Well, this game primes by it's logic...an example of that is the (amazing) red stone circuitry that we can build (+ a lot of other stuff)...hell, they are doing a new one that is all about logic! > 0x10c - which reflects how important the logic is to mojang game creators!
So, what you've said it's not an excuse. They are contradicting themselves.
Anyway, yeah, i'm not worried for not having water on nether - but i really would like to (at least), that mojang could implement some sort of additional requirements when going to the nether...one example is the armour requirement...i believe that it's too easy to go there as things are...and a bit non-logical as i've explained.
Then if you want to start applying real life logic, then you should die the minute you go in the nether because of the extreme heat with all the lava and fire all around.
My FPS seems to be pretty good with this snapshot too. Seems a lot better than a few weeks ago now. Anyone else notice framerate improvements?
I have. I am geting about 5-10 more fps on medium and short. Now I can play on medium at about 15-20 fps and short at 25-30. Far still at 7 Now 1.2.6 + Optifine
Writable books is one of the best things to come to the game. All we need now is the ability for the author to edit the book and the ability to edit signs so we don't need to tear them up to place different text.
Is this for 1.2.6? If it is my friend is going to be sooooooooooo pissed. He wants it to just be 1.3.0, but I diagree.
If the patch progression has so far been following a logical sequence since the official release: (1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.2.3, 1.2.4, 1.2.5, for example) why in the hell would the next patch be 1.3.0 instead of 1.2.6?
What difference does it make to your friend if it is 1.2.6 instead of 1.3.0? It's not like the game will be magically better or all of a sudden have a whole load of new content, just because it is now 1.3.0, instead of 1.2.6...
Ooh, towns now contain chests with weapons and food! Is this a new aspect introduced in this snapshot, or just something that I hadn't come across before?
Wow, dude... That rock you've been living under has to be really damn comfortable...
Some furnaces are working some are not in this patch. Both in SMP and SSP.
Have a 2x3 wall of furnaces, the top two wont smelt. Made a new furnace and put it at ground lvl still not working so im unsure of the cause since it seems pretty random.

Why can't I run a server locally? Minecraft doesn't seem to connect when I try to connect to a running server, and it simply states that it can't find a server? What do do?
Well, isn't this just dandy!
I recently made a library in an SMP server, and then editable books? THIS IS JUST AWESOME! Can't wait till the full update. :Diamond::diamond::Diamond::diamond::Diamond::GoldBar::GoldBar::GoldBar::GoldBar::GoldBar:
I dont know if this has been posted yet but....
sugercane cant grow... ive sat around waiting next to my sugercane stalks for 15 minutes and they refuse to grow.
Open minecraft, in login screen press "Options" -> "Force update!" -> "Done"-> "Login". It re-installs the old version. After it's done downloading and you get into Main menu, close Minecraft and try re-installing the snapshot again. Check that the file you move is called "minecraft.jar", not like "minecraft(1).jar" or anything, you overwrite the old file, not "keep both" or anything, and re-check that you really moved it into bin folder. If that doesn't work let us know. :]
also note if your downloading the minecraft launcher .jar your doing it wronge
Flying through water in Creative mode is no longer slow.
Am I the only one that finds this more awesome than the books? (Do not get me wrong, the book thing is great too, but damn if I had not been expecting the water thing for months, underwater city here I come!)
Also, will they ever patch the extremely annoying underwater light bug? Where light just stays there after the source is gone? And the square light patterns which I assume are because of chunk loading...
Sadly my personal bugbear has not been slain -- the overhead lighting glitch (a torch in a 1x1 space). Oh well!

Does it being a hot and hellish environment not make sense to you?
We can write in books?!?!?!? Hell is freezing over now!
I am wetting myself in excitement.

I say make it a mod. Stuff like this doesn't really belong in the vanilla game.
