I can understand why this whole issue is probably a cry for more publicity for Yogscast, considering they live on paychecks from YouTube partnerships and try too hard to draw in more subscribers to feed off money from their views.
Simon and Lewis are amateur comedians playing a popular game, and to many people, though most of them in or under their teenage years, find the Yogscast to be entertaining for all the wrong reasons, because they are drawn into said amateur comedians' plot of world domination with a couple of microphones and a screen recorder, and an annoying song about digging.
The dispute, to me, is overexaggerated. Yogscast is known for being classless. It's how they get subscribers. It's how they get paid. Like RayWilliamJohnson, or Shane Dawson. If you appeal to the low-mannered masses, you recieve publicity.
In my opinion, the Yogscast showed up to Minecon not only to show their support for the game, but to also get the attention of the more hardcore fans and attempt to prove that they are interesting people, while also swaggering about with their same dickish additude that Yognaughts approve and love. To me it is all a stunt.
Minecraft is a game. To the Yogscast, it is a paycheck. I agree with the reaction of Notch towards their behavior that making that big of a deal about a game is pitiful in itself.
And now you listen here and you listen good, I have never watched any Minecraft Let's Plays and I know that some other players may be different, and I am not an indie developer for games, but I can tell when something as simplistic as a game can become popular enough that an individual, or a group of individuals, can exploit it to their ideas advantage. If I were Notch, I wouldn't approve of childish Let's Players claiming to be a huge source of new users, especially if those new players bear the same additude as the Yogscast and generate negative energy towards my game.
The dispute is foolish and belongs in some sort of cliche gamer-hype magazine that relates to the same structure as a tabloid. There is no valid reason to keep pissing and moaning about this kind of stuff.
Its like going to a police station telling them how you stole a purse and demonstrating it, while arguing the benefits of it. You'd still go to jail because you're an idiot.
Basing a opinion on only half the facts is what fools do, without any conclusive data and response from both party's, no ones opinion is right. Whats even worse is the people choosing sides from witnessing such videos with out knowing all the facts.
Edit: btw is your name a reference to the elder scrolls oblivion O:?
So either Notch is wrong or this is a joke. Why are they stalling?
I started using the name after playing Morrowind. I don't like Oblivion as much as Morrowind.
You know, I really hope this is just Notch and Yogscast just trolling us, but I dont think it is. I am a fan of the Yogscast, but if notch is telling the truth, they were acting kind of obnoxiously and rudely.

PCG: I GAVE YOUR WHOLE UNIVERSE CANCER, JADE.
PCG: SORRY.
Why cant they just forget about this whole thing and move on why did notch try to make them look bad on his twitter and we only heard notches side we also have to hear the yogscasts side just because notch made the game doesn't mean we have to side with him all of a sudden.
That was the most pointless 23 minutes of my life. He pointed out everything we already know, and to top it off its mainly his opinion not the actual story :
7 Minutes in: completely wrong that gesture of that nod doesn't at all mean what that idiot said. Who ever made this video needs to be shot.
I disagree. I think the guy gives a good perspective on the situation. Yes, it is one opinion on the matter but he does support his opinion and really the first 7 minutes is the best stuff you can watch to build a decent opinion on the matter.
I would also like to point out your ending comment. Just think about it for a moment. You are instigating serious bodily harm that could lead to death just for voicing his opinion in the manner he did.
This dispute is ridiculous, especially when their is only Notch's side. 99% of the comments I read that were negative towards the Yogscast were people who have never even heard of them. To them I say "please leave your words to your douche trolling self". Yogscast is a fantastic team who have done a TON for the Minecraft community. Thats not to say they should have wrote "f**k you" over Notch's signature, but thats pretty damn funny if you ask any Minecraft fan who is above the age of 8.
And the entire notion of "banning" the Yogscast from Minecraft is insane. It is unreasonable to expel your friends from using your toys because they called you a mean name.

After seeing what Yogscast did Notch is right about what they are. All they did was show up on stage and talk trash on the game. Quite disappointing from Yogscast and they really need to learn to not let their fame go to their head. Especially Lewis since in all reality it is Simon that is the funny guy of the group who carries the weight of the show.
I am generally a lurker, not a poster, but this has brought me out of the woodwork.
One thing in all of this is driving me crazy and I can't believe no one else has mentioned it.
Notch specifically said that none of the "entertainers" got paid to be at Minecon. In fact, they all paid for their own tickets to get in.
This is an incredibly unprofessional way to run a convention and a company.
-snip-
Actually I commented quite a few pages back that I could see it being reasonable that Yogscast might be put off that they were invited for a panel but that their room and board wasn't paid for, that they had to pay their own way. As someone who has helped organize conventions I can tell you it's just polite to at least put your guests up and pay for their food.
I knew about minecraft since it was alpha. But I didn't buy it. I wasn't even planning on buying the game. I found yogscast's channel on youtube and watched their minecraft adventure series. After about episode 7 I got this strange urge to go and buy minecraft.
I don't know about the yogscast causing players to "find out" about minecraft. But I do know that the yogscast caused players to "buy" minecraft
