wow a lot of hate both ways, i wanting for both sides. it was said it might not have been about simon & lewis but a yogcast crew. also notch did said he had very little sleep all minecon and from experience running low on sleep makes you crabby as hell little and things **** you off more then normal.
also alcohol may or not have been involved it is vegas, we dont know
and final note about the f-bombs in front of kids, oh my god protect the children. the kids where in vegas they likely heard a hell of a lot worse walking to expo hall.
Hmm my reaction will entirely depend on the yogscast response. Though there was a snippet posted on Reddit claiming to have seen some of these things Notch claimed occurring. My thought is they probably were inappropriate at times, albeit they probably didn't realize fully at the time. I feel like setting some ground rules before hand could have avoided this whole thing. As it is though if I was making a convention for my now being released hit of a game, and I got complaints from multiple people attending or working there about certain guests, I wouldn't be too happy either.
Even though It might not be the full story, even taking credit for a games success, is unbelievably egotistical. I think they forgot that theres 6.4 billion other people on the planet, multiple other people doing video's for things on minecraft, friends who pass games around to eachother, even the pirates bring in profit, all it takes is a guy who hasn't purchased the game to show a friend the game, to let him try it, the friend to begin to like the game, purchase it, maybe because they wanted to make there own skin, and then show it to other people, yes, they may of brought in some of the people who purchased minecraft, but if they didnt, someone else would, or the release for xbox would, and it would be the same result anyways. Information gets passed around a lot more ways then a group of people that make video's and blog posts.
Let alone, why would you ask to get paid when you have your own website, use adf.ly to get money off downloads for you "yogbox" and probably get enough money from your fanboys donations anyways? Yes, you'll attract people to come to minecon, but the god damn thing was set up for your own enjoyment, let alone your own paid flight to NEW VEGAS.
But, thats all I can say until I hear the full story :biggrin.gif:
i have never EVER seen notch so angry, but if the yogs cast were such idiots at minecon, they lost a subscriber, how could they be so arrogant? i feel so sorry for notch, thi sounds like it ruind his day.
I'm not one to comment on this sort of stuff. But I side with Notch on this one. Yoggscast are a bunch of stuck up people. They didn't even start to get popular till the end of alpha near the start of beta. They have no right to claim that they built the community. WAY too stuck up. Their videos are made for the enjoyment of little kids too the way they speak and act is too stupid, I'm surprised the parents are letting their kids watch it too.
I started making LP's back in alpha as well. But when I made them I made them with a serious Let's Play attitude. I play for people to feel like they are with me when I play, I show my surprise and explain my plans and goals as I go. These guys do nothing but crack stupid jokes, laugh at potty humor, and act like retards. I've watched quite a few of their videos, so I know this, I'm not just spouting this because of one or two videos.
In the end. Their egos are just WAY too big because their videos are getting millions of views.
Yogscast wouldn't be half as popular as they should if it weren't for Notch and his team. I guess they can call their beloved Bethesda a bunch of nerds as well. Pretty much what they are saying is that anyone who learns a bit of programming or a bit of learning how to make a game is a nerd. They are just stupid.
The proper thing to do would be to wait it out and see if it's true, but what the hell.
Simon and Lewis were probably very well-behaved. Notch was having a lot of fun with them during the inteview, cracking jokes about Simon's mum and all. I think that it was someone else from the Yogscast team. Simon and Lewis are childish and hilarious. Their entire fanbase is %51 kids, they would NOT drop the F-bomb on one of them.
Probably.

Before you criticise a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way he's a mile away and barefoot.
I'm going to hate myself for suggesting this, I can tell.
I can imagine, no offence to the Yogscast or to any of the supporters, that if Notch's statements were correct, that the Yogscast and/or team MAY have been drunk at the time.
To me, this seems to be a viable explanation of the situation. I haven't seen them nor have I been to Minecon, so my suggestion counts for very little.
Again, no offence torwards Mojang or the Yogscast.
I also agree on waiting patiently for Yogscast to post their side of the story. I do hope no relations break because of this.
That is still not an acceptable way to behave around children, even while under the influence of an alcoholic bevarage. Hopefully, this dispute is solved quickly and cleanly. I watched the yogscast a few times, and they where alright, but then I looked at my friend's video, and it was 10x better. The problem? The yogscast had 10 mil veiws, and my friend had 10. This is definently not like Fallout 3.
in Wales, the adults get f-bombed by children, the adults swear back, and the teens make fun of them for swearing at each other.
in England its practically the same, so whats wrong with Brits swearing, its literally how we speak. don't be racist notch :wink.gif:
but on the other hand, by no means did Yogscast make minecraft famous. i found it through an Asian kid :wink.gif:
And in some countries, they cut your hands off for breaking the law. Your point?
If you travel internationally, you have to be aware of the laws and customs of the country you visit. Even if you view that as BS, it is still wrong to curse at a child at all, despite how various cultures view it as everyday talk (which is just disgusting, by the way).
Obviously swearing in the prescense of children is unacceptable under any circumstance. My point being is that the scenario I put forth produced a situation where the happenings at Minecon were not totally intended.
Yogscast became famous through the process of people with minecraft searching youtube for various youtube videos and telling their friends of it, much like how CaptainSparkles and SlyFox got famous themselves.
