Make it so we don't need an HDTV! I can't afford an HDTV!! I DON'T CARE IF THE GRAPHICS ARE TERRABLE WHEN YOUR PLAYING SPLIT SCREEN I JUST REALLY WONT TO PLAY IT WITH MY BRO!!!
I agree with this. My family has owned several sdtvs that we bought back around the year 2000. when HD came out, i couldn't really tell the difference, and i still cant (i even have a laptop with a 720p screen) unfortunately we did throw em out cause we were moving and they were too bulky so it seems we will be upgrading anyways, but I honestly dont see any reason why people have to upgrade to newer tech if their old tech works just fine. I understand the difference though, You can see smaller objects (such as more text, like you mentioned) and can see why you need hd for mc splitscreen. The people commenting on the kotaku article are just dumb. They come off as a bunch of rich snobs who look down on those who cant afford gold crested everything.
Not trying to sound mean, but you voiced your opinion and I want to voice mine. First off, you say that you bought your TV in 2000, and when HD came out you didn't see a difference. Well, HD TV's came out a few years before 2000, so your parents may have just been buying cheaply to reduce cost. Also, unless you are on a really tight budget, HDTV s are really not that expensive, only about $130.00 for a good one. yes, I agree with your point that "Why buy new tech when old tech works fine, " but sooner or later everyone will have an HDTV, and the time seems to be now to buy one. I also agree with what you said about the people on the Kokatu article, they are just jerks.

you wanna know why split-screen is SUCH a big deal to everyone? because it is something that is not offered on the computer. why the hell would i buy minecraft for xbox if it does all the things the PC does for the SAME price with more difficult controls? it's nice to just kick back with a friend and play
While I do not want to ruin your enthusiasm, I was under the impression MCX and PC seeds where not interchangable due to the decreased world sizes of the XBOX version. I may of course be wrong.
You are wrong, the seeds are the same insofar as the 1024x1024 blocks that it renders around the spawn point.
One possible reason why Microsoft does not allow splitscreen on non-HDMI televisions are that the quality is horribly bad and that you might not be able to see all of the screen details. I do understand it's a problem for those who just cannot afford a high-definition TV, but I'm sure it's not a marketing trick or anything. Instead, it is probably a technical problem.
Awww, i was really looking forward to playing with my friend...
Some people only bought it cause they wanted splitscreen, but they cant because the dont have fancy hd tv's.
Its is like ordering an ice cream with sprinkles, and not getting the sprinkles.
Might not be a big deal, i mean, you still have your ice cream, but you asked for sprinkles, and you got none, as well you have been unfairly charged for said sprinkles. You have thus been tricked.
So the people have a right to complain, let them get refunds because of their lack of sprinkles, its their right.
PS: i reeeaaalllyy want some ice cream right now (WITH SPRINKLES!)
not to be a little late to the party but my game is fine on my SDTV got it plugged in and everything and it works perfectly until you get to 4 player then it lags a little when gui's are open but other then that 2/3 player work just fine, i'm just mad pistons wern't implemented yet because i really wanted to trick my freinds guess i'll have to wait....
EDIT
yes it's hard to read the words but i hooked it up to hdtv with cables and the words are still impossible to see

Just buy an HDMI cable.

You are off-topic, sir, you should probably be taken to the Nether and given a sound thrashing.
Is it literally going to be like 1.7.3?
If so, I'm jealous.
Old signature got imageshack'd.
Please don't shoot down my ideas or anyone else's ideas. It makes me angry, so don't do it.
But sprinkles don't cost much anyway...
But my cousin has
