i love the features but i also hate some. one thing i noticed. when i played offline which i normally do, everything is how i left it. meanwhile i log in, I'm to where i saved and can't find anything. also, there is a considerable amount of stress on my system. using the f3 its much higher spikes. because its like multi player, the mobs are glitchy and laggy. i can't even kill a creeper anymore because it explodes so far away. to be honest. i hate the multi player and single player combine. u can't play normal single player without server lag. and I'm even offline.also i can't seem to find my level seed anymore
I have a hunch that most of the problems I am seeing here would be solved if:
1 - You extract the zip file into your .minecraft directory. The minecraft.jar file and the server files will drop into the proper places on their own, problem solved. No more McCoy quotes. Sure there are some other issues out there, but this one is sad. It's not the same as the other releases. You can't just plop the zip file where you used to plop the jar file. It has to be extracted so that the two jar files fall into the proper directories.
2 - Some of us... JUST CHILL OUT! The server/client split... other games have been doing this for over a decade... the client runs in the foreground, the server runs as a background process. I think Quake did this first in 1996. It does not require an internet connection to do this. YOU JUST RUN IT. No worries about hackers trying to invade. At this point, you can't even invite anyone into any SP game. You would have to run the "minecraft_server.exe" program (or alternate OS equivalent), which *would* be much slower on the same machine. Before you freak out and spam the forums next time, take the time to try it out first.
How get my brother on to my single player world? Please help!!!!
i think you might be able to do it by portforwarding but im not too sure.now to go along with the larger biome(oceans) i think they need to add larger customizable boats that will move under the power of sail and all you have to do is steer them that way you don't break your forward key while holding it down for hours on end.

Except, we already tried it out and the problem is that right now in Minecraft with this snapshot an internet connection IS REQUIRED. You cannot play even single player unless you are connected to the internet. This is with the regular minecraft.bin not the minecraft_server.bin. If you start a single player world and your internet connection is interrupted, the game kicks you out and you CANNOT play at all unless you connect to the internet again.
The game runs with latency lag, so creepers are closer than they appear and they blow up before you can kill them.
Reminds me of the Yogscast when they do their map plays. They have a hard time killing a simple zombie without getting hit, because of the latency and they have INSANE PC's with super fast internet connections...
Wow, this new map type looks great. And is it just me, or do the colors in items seem more vibrant? The diamond pick in the picture seems to shine, and same with the iron.
I have to admit that I'm a little confused about the new snapshot (mostly the previous one). With the server/client deal.. Does this mean that the guys are working on a way to play MP without setting up a server? Or am I completely misunderstood? If that IS what is happening, that's gonna be awesome. I've been wanting to get setup with a private server so my little cousin and I can play together without having him banned from most of the current servers for griefing.

It means SSP is from now on, gone. you will be playing MC on a server and people on your local network can join that map. say you have a network with 3 computers on it.
they all have minecraft
one person sets up a world on single player.
the other 2 are annoying and join to annoy you while Minecraft is the only time you can get away from them.
win/win cuz you can ban them
The snap shot isn't working for me, it keeps telling me that it can't access the server with this snapshot and to go download it and put the jar in the folder.... but I'm not trying to connect to any server. I do what it says to do anyway and it still doesn't help anything.

Here is exactally what the error says..... quoted post is my post btw..... "Unfortunately we can't automagically downlad the server for this snapshot. GO download the server, and extract it to: *insert file name* When you're done, hit okay to try again!"Ooops I didn't know my two posts would be connected.... now I know.
I quite like this update, though the cocoa plants devalue cocoa beans I actually like the plants, more realistic. Interesting large biomes option too, but Oceans were big enough already .
Here's my overview video if anyone wants to see it!
yay! i wont download the snapshot i want to wait till the final patch and optifine AA gets updated for it. but will check out the video!
