that mean: survival will not dissapear but the survival we know will change forever and we will need to get food for travel. so, i think it'll be more intense gameplay. the only thing i can say about hunger is that they'll need to put hard work on it so we dont get freezed hunger bar on multiplayer.
IMPORTANT!!!: also, if notch can read this, i play on anarchy server and evrytime i get killed, I click on respawn as fast as I can but sometime I hit the disconnect button and it glitches minecraft (i need to delete the windows evrytime). my suggestion is to remove this gui on the death menu because it would help alot... or you could move it at the bottom
pps: i thought that someone could make a mode inspired from the "revenge" video with smile and anger and blinking eyes
If i remember correctly, awhile back i remember notch saying something about wanting to make survival a little more realistic by adding hunger, and that he wanted to make the new difficulty levels based on realism, so the whole hunger thing probably won't be a big deal, especially with all the new food they are adding to the game.
I'm sad about the possibility of old fashioned minecraft survival being removed, it should be counted as the game modes they were saying they may make :(. I like the good ol' minecraft survival, i think they should just add beef and the lamb and other little things that would be nice in survival. I'm mainly gonna be upset over the level system and food meter, i don't like that feature :/ (well, leveling does sound kinda cool, but i wouldn't make it so important and i wouldn't make it make the game harder as you progress as notch said.
MCF: There have been many questions regarding the future of Survival as it exists currently - will it exist in any form after 1.8?
Jeb:
I don't think so.
Survival will not exist in ANY form after 1.8.
In all likely hood though this is going to be a change of name more than a change of gameplay. The "Adventure update" very well could rename "Survival mode" to "Adventure Mode". This can be assumed as the "Adventure update" Is going to expand upon the current goal of minecraft. That is currently making a Base/Home/City/etc. That is as advanced as possible. It has been said it will put more emphasis on Exploring, and generally making the game feel like more of an adventure rather than a more difficult creative mode.
I'm also very excited about the implications of toggleable NPC villages. Perhaps a step toward customizable difficulty?
I really hope that, well, pretty much EVERY addition to 1.8 is optional. I love Survival, I hate hunger systems, I hate leveling, and I hate new and different game modes. I pretty much will download mods to keep minecraft the way it is in 1.8 (provided someone makes them) or just stay in 1.7 with all my nice and working gun mods.
I think I'll charge my dad's old laptop the day before the 1.8 release and start up 1.8 on there. Keep 1.7 on my desktop to play on 1.7 servers. I'll ask my dad if he'll do the same.
Using my dad's old laptop will be a risky move, I'm sure. I'll have to give it plenty of cooling because, with my dad's fancy cooling pad at maximum settings, it still hit 90 degrees Celsius. And no I'm not joking. Speccy tells no lies. Ah well, with your average box fan it will probably be safe for sure. Lol. Then 1.8 up the wazzoo.
A large majority of adventure maps will be ruined with hunger.
As much as I support it, Mojang needs to consider *every* side.
I can't provide food in my adventure map, as that would be retarded and would simply mean free health anytime.
Plus... I will have to spend hours re-doing chambers to prevent sprinting from being an advantage in jumping puzzles.
On the good side:
We *may* have NPCs that can be customized externally and put in-game without mods for our own purposes!
