This is all over done on the forums. Notch did what he thought the people wanted and simply informed us of what was in the air. Both parties seem to be doing their best to sort this out and no matter the outcome is it really that big of a deal? The ones who need to think are the ones on this forum. Slander and false accusations are all part of the corporate grind an you can't let it obstruct your view of the product. No matter the outcome I will continue too enjoy minecraft and the videos the yogscast makes. In the hopes that we can all get over this with no lingering effects goodnight.
I doubt this is as simple as a "minor misunderstanding". Notch's statement made it pretty clear that his opinion of Yogscast had formed over an extended period of time, and that numerous things led to him finally letting his thoughts be known. That couldn't be the result of just any isolated incident, or any single misunderstanding. There is something more going on here than what is just at the surface.
I wish, I wish, I wish that Notch had done the mature thing and never started this.
People are up in arms and he should have foreseen that – he’s lost a lot of fans, and the Yogscast have lost a lot of fans, and for what? Issues that happen on pretty much all conventions? Issues that should have been dealt with in private?
Instead he did the teenage thing, and tweeted. It seemed so much like a thirteen-year-old-girl, tweeting about how her friend overheard someone saying that another friend might or might not have kissed this one guy in the bathroom at a party. It’s not the kind of thing that the community needs to hear. We don’t need to know about that kind of drama.
See what it’s done? Notch can’t possibly go around talking about how great the community is when he essentially kicked it in its teeth just now.
Regardless of what happened, what was said, what was going on at that convention, we didn’t need to know. Not people are harassing each other on both sides, spamming the yogscast site (Really? Come on now!), unsubscribing, hissing, insulting, going on like crazy people.
I’m sorry but that’s on Notch’s shoulders. If he had just talked to the Yogscast in private. Kept it private. Uninvited them from next Minecon without making a fuss, we would all of us have been far, far better off.
This is giving me a headache :sad.gif:
Nice speech hehe...
He should've just talked to Yogscast directly yes, this is cowardice. He should've talked and sorted things out with them like adults. But no, he decides to flame behind their backs with impunity. He shou;d've stood up for his company and talked to their faces. What Notch did was immature, definitely.
Eh, no doubt that Notch definitely did some over-exaggerating in his Twitter rants, but I won't be so blind as to say that the Yogscast did, "absolutely nothing", in order to earn such a hate speech from him.
They are probably both at fault here, so it is best just left alone, so that neither party comes out worse off than before.
Exactly this. Yogscast claim the only time they spoke with Notch was during their interview. Due to the mature response of the Yogscast I am inclined to believe this, as Notch's tweets simply dont give us enough actual evidence.
Notch isn't going to come out with evidence, because I'm pretty certain he didn't see all of what he claims happened, there's a chance he got the info 'through the grapevine' if you like, he jumped on the swearing thing then got hounded by trolls and decided to 'stop biting his tongue' and came out with everything he had heard, all of which Yogscast deny and I honestly find hard to believe they actually did most of it.
In the end this whole thing looks a lot worse because of that hate bandwagon that people feel the need to jump on when drama occurs on the net.
searching Yogscast in the twitter feed yesterday got you loads of people hating on them how rude they all are how they should be ashamed etc etc.
search Notch right now and it's the same **** aimed at him.
That said, that really is Notch's fault as he failed to act professionally and in a mature manner. When you do that from a position of power you incite idiot followers who take your word as gold and fail to see any other possible explanation. Bring the internet into that equation and you get it on a much larger scale.
Yogscast are still gaining subs, they will still make entertaining videos, Notch still made one of the greatest games ever, he will continue to update it, no one will care next week, that's my final thoughts.
I'd hardly call a public statement "behind their backs". Besides that, apparently he was getting a lot of hate from Yogscast fans, so it would've made sense to address any tensions. I think the cowardly thing to have done would've been to sugarcoat his opinion of them. He spoke his mind, and made it publicly known, to address both Yogscast and their fanbase, as well as anyone else interested in the issue. Was it the smartest or most "adult" move? Not necessarily. But certainly not cowardly, and certainly not covert or underhanded in any way.
maybe they were both wrong, maybe not. point is that now the yogscast is being attacked and these attacks are meant to harm them. Why? Because of what Notch said on twitter. He best get in gear and start making the mistake right. I'm sorry is hardly going to fix the effects of a loss of subs and a malicious website attack that is ongoing. Now all Yogscast fans get to be punished thanks to this. I hardly care who was wrong here, but this is DDoS crap is ********. Fix this Notch. Your the reason why this is happening...
Let's remember that Notch Tweeted the last tweet about this whole ordeal on the 23rd. The official Yogscast statement was released sometime between 7 and 8 PM EST on the 23rd. Took them a while, eh? Still, I don't like that Notch accused them of things. Although I'm glad this is over with, I have proof at least one party is lying, and with no proof presented as to which it was, I'm going to have to say that I trust the Yogscast and Notch a little less now.

Let me summarize the 4,000 youtube comments by demographic for you:
Children - **** NOTCH Trolls/Dyslexics - **** YOGSCAST College Goers/Young Adults - Everyone was drunk, who gives a ****? Adults - Very mature/professional reply guys, in the absence of further evidence, I think Notch should apologize. ADD Sufferers - WHERE DID SIMON'S BEARD GO?!
Excuse me, sorry to ruin your joke but I'm dyslexic and I don't fall into that category.
Its funny how some people are worshipping the yogscast's response, when it contains about as much facts as Notch's twitter posts.
I just see this as Notch's word vs. The Yogscast's word.
And it seems most of the beta players, Who don't know notch in the least are taking Yog's side.
I see it as Yogscast being forced to defend against something they didn't do, which is pretty hard to provide evidence that you DIDN'T do something. Notch is the one with the burden of proof here, not Yogscast.
Personally, after seeing how poorly Notch has handled all of this, I hope the Yogscast crew were consulting with a lawyer when they landed, as that's the only thing that will wake Mojang up to the effects Notch can have with his tweets. He needs to stick to coding, and let a PR person handle communication.
Meh, since this seems to have been recovered and the Yogscast and Notch will most likely make up for it and forgive, I'll let the people whom sided on one another in the first place to fight it out childishly. d:
I have no hate for neither of them, as they have no hate for each other, and keep in mind that they are people! Just because they are important doesn't mean they have to be perfect.
See ya. (;
Edit: What he "should have" done is part of what makes him human. Get over it people. C:
When I first read Notch's tweets, it was after I saw his interview with them. I thought he was trolling them. I guess I'm still hoping that he trolled them and is now embarrassed into silence because it worked so well. But I won't pretend to know what's going on between them until we get more information. I hope it can be resolved amicably.

Make note: I generally avoid being insulting. If I sound insulting, I'm probably joking.
