to be honest MW3 has the same amount of originality as a pile of gum on the ground in the seance that its not original at all. minecraft earned an award on the basis that it is original and against the stream of same old gum on table crap we pass-off as original or groundbreaking these days
Look, if you don't think he deserves this then go play the games that everyone always expects will win awards. A few years ago massive developers made games which 10 years ago would have been beyond dreams, and whilst all the modern, high CPU console games display phenomenal levels of gameplay and graphics in so many cases, Notch decided to make a game made of 1m square cubes. This game became a global phenomenon, despite a somewhat wrongly blacked reputation at times because of bugs (Hey, it was BETA, that's what happens!).
On top of that, the game allows you to do pretty much anything! You can build a house or make a computer within a computer, and if you don't like something, it's sandbox; you don't have to do it. That's what annoys me when people say that <update> ruined the game - You don't have to touch <item> or <item> or <content>!
Now you tell me that a game that has achieved worldwide fame and made millions using 16x16 graphics does not deserve an award.

it would be like playing MW3 without finished physics or complete hit boxes
and anyways there were a list of like 10 bugs in 1.8
as apposed to 1.6 witch had over 100 in some cases making the game unplayable
so whats all the fuss about
