However there are many many reasons that your statement isnt 100% accurate
1) Not Everyone has a computer that is capable of running minecraft decently
In this day and age? I know Minecraft is a guzzler because Notch can't optimise to save his life, but its at least still workable
2) Not everyone wants to sit in front of a computer for a few hours
And a TV makes this different somehow?
3) Some people prefer controllers to a mouse and keyboard, myself included

Its the exact same game, except inevitably several patches behind. How is that a new experience? What is new about that? You'd get the same experience plugging a controller into your PC, projecting Minecraft onto a wall, and playing
I can tell you from experience that having a PC version and having that same game on console feels totally different
In example. Ps3 users who purchased portal 2, also received the pc version on steam as well...WITH cross platform multiplayer.
My point im getting to with Portal 2 is that I enjoy laying on the couch with my 60 inch 1080p television and relaxing in a comfortable position instead of sitting hunched over to reach a keyboard in front of my 27 inch monitor straining my eyes. (which is a major health problem for your spine and eyes)

The Moderators or Admins of the forums have seen the dislike towards this decision by mojang as somehow Ratings have been removed from this article...because it went to 1 star...because barely anyone likes this decision.
As the leader of a semi-prominant Modding Group, called the Mod Division (an offshoot of my Server Company iKings Stargate Coalition) if microsoft does somehow convince mojang to switch out of using java that will cripple the Massive massive mods we are developing right now, such as the Doctor Who Client Mod and Stargate Chevron 7 Client Mod....both of which are so massive they are practically new games.
Also, after the recent minecraft forum update....which I personally loathe....not because I dont like change but because they removed many of the features I depended on while using these. Since the Update the Search engine Optimization on my Doctor Who Client Mod thread has been wrecked for some reason and the activity on the thread has gone down since the update..... theres no way that after 6 months of 2 new pages a day, does it just suddenly drop down to 4 posts a day .... right after a system update. (however since they removed the "users viewing this thread" addon, I cannot be sure of anything any more.
All this is just serving to fracture the community.

Well not really a rage but I think partnering with Microsoft was a fairly bad idea. Why you may ask? Because of the word "Exclusive". Microsoft just LOVES having them, we all know this. But this now means less people would in turn have access to playing Minecraft (not everyones computer can run it to the point of it being bearable).
If Sony had partnered first I can see Minecraft then being released for the Xbox (as I honestly don't see Sony being as uptight about having a game, that is as open-ware as you can get IMO, release for another console).
Not only that but Microsoft already tried to mimic Minecraft using the Xbox Avatars. I can only see Microsoft eventually making Minecraft on the Xbox less of Mojang and more Microsoft by adding in Avatar/Xbox features.
I can see Minecraft integrating well with PS Home. Just saying.

The Reason why Microsoft does all this exclusive **** is because they know without it there dieing system will go faster. This is because most people who had a xbox for a very long time switched consoles because of all this ******** (IE crashing, exclusive everything, devs on the system make half done games and it breaks after dropping 3 centimeters). Microsoft is all about money will Sony is about what gamers like GOOD GAMES AND NOT SOMETHING SOLD OFF A BRAND NAME.
