- Hi! at first sight, I was a bit lost, specifically with the profile content and settings (I guess I'll get use to it)
- I also think the site is slower (I oftenly couldn't join the site these past days due to maximum capacity!)
- For pictures' loading, it is slower too; doesn't seem to resize the pictures like it used to do.
- My posts are all ok, that's fine... but I don't see some avatars from repliers (I think it's because they're offline; in their appropriate profile page, I can see their avatar), but that's doesn't bother me.
- Can we still see the status online/offline from other users and who's reading the topic I'm reading??
* well, it's a huge forum and good luck to you administrators!!
- Also I was reading another topic and no links were working properly (I don't know if it's due to the site upgrade or the user)... the thread is Cartograph g: http://www.minecraft...d-minecraft-10/
- And in my profile content, I can see some topics I started and some I don't see, why is that?
- Maybe I'm wrong, but there's no more buttons to navigate right to the first or the last page of a thread. It's faster with these buttons than the "jump to page" button. That would be nice to add. Thanks!
It wasn't that... Alexia wrote a big long thing about how much work they'd put into the update and how careful they were being about making sure everything was working and that they didn't just roll out untested software in a herpty-derpty clown car. And now that gigantic holes have been burned in that feeble assertion, they've deleted it so no one can go back and prove they lied.
Never saw that one. O_O
Hopefully someone (not me unfortunately) decided to archive it in their obsessive collection of posts, I do that for everyone I work under. I think I'll do it for this forum as well too, begin lurker mode. (I had to ctrl+b twice when I wrote that, selecting it and pressing the shortcut bolded it and everything after that... annoying.)
The odds are good that if someone has a copy there's no way that it isn't gonna show up in another thread/forum and on pastebin. Also, this whole text-wrap not working thing is seriously annoying when I'm proofreading my posts.
It is no surprise that they had an At Capacity again(20-30 minutes ago for me), didn't they just update their software and not their hardware? If the servers can't handle the load adding a new coat of paint isn't going to make more space magically appear. When I heard them say they were updating their software I seriously facedesked, there had been 7 instances in 5 hours that I recieved that error.
I don't care.. I know what I saw, and what I saw was massive amounts of arrogance mixed with either A: a stunning lack of competence, or B: outright lies intended to veer us away from bitching about it.
Either way, it's disappointing that so many idiots could be in charge of such a large community hub.

You know, I would give you a rep right now if that didn't take forever. I see you guys at curse have put months of time & effort into testing this new layout, that way you can shove it in our faces, and say you really don't care.
Guys, please just stop complaining about how it looks different. Curse didn't choose to change the layout, the layout change was forced upon by the new software. For example there are no longer lava buckets because the company who make the software changed how hot topics are displayed. The update wasn't Curse going "hey let's change the look of the site for no reason" because, as I previously stated, the layout change wasn't down to them. Curse updated from the older, now unsupported, version of IPB because the forums were (and I don't normally speak ill of the forums) falling apart, there's only so many times you can patch a dam before it bursts - the update was to improve performance.
The new site isn't perfect, they knew there would be a few things to iron out when it's running, which is why they made this thread; to report problems you're having with the forum. By posting here saying things like "I don't like how it looks!" aren't helping, as they're just drowning out legitimate reports.
Now I've got that off my chest :P:
Bug report - Threads I've read are sometimes still showing up as if they have unread posts in them.
Right, cos no large company ever customised their licensed forum software. They had no choice but to take whatever IPB decided to give them. It's all a mysterious black box of "FORUM" and not editable javascript and php and html.
I just find out that, when you had post something, just press the edit button RIGHT AFTER your post appear (don't reload the page or do anything else); Then, save the modification EVEN IF YOU HAVEN'T MODIFIED ANYTHING; Your avatar will then be saved for THIS POST...you will need to do that EACH TIME you post.
It's like if the edit button was like a confirmation button or something like that...

Wow...look like it doesn't work in this section of the forum?!? Wtf!

I would like to invite the exec who gave the final greenlight for this "upgrade" to come onto the site and do their best to explain exactly why it went so poorly and why they allowed it to drop with so many large and OBVIOUS problems still left to fix.
WYSIWYG editor locks all editing tools when switched into text-only mode, meaning you have to already know the BBcode you want to use because there are no buttons to insert it for you. If you're going to waste the time and bandwidth loading this thing, you can spend a little more to give us proper button functionality when "Pretty Mode" is switched off.
There is no "Spoiler" insert button, meaning newbies continue to post huge walls of text when asking for help with errors. Hiding this function in a long list in a pop-up under an obscure icon titled "Special BBcode" is not as helpful as you might think, especially in the Modding forums.
Search needs options to "search by post title", and "sort alphabetical by letter" (disregard non-alphabetic/non-linguistic characters when sorting) rather than sorting by pure character codes. Also, there is no relevance algorithm, and links from search still don't go to the actual post with the desired content.
In-window pop-ups block other functions of the browser window from being used; if connections die or the Javascript errors out, these pop-ups can fail poorly and in some cases refuse to close. Avoid them wherever possible.
The watched threads / content I follow page needs sorting options: Time of OP last edit, Time of last post to thread, By forum/subforum (sub-sort alphabetical by title), By title
Alternatively, the watched threads list needs to be separated by forum at the very least.
The same watched threads list should not require a user to enable the option to edit options; it is assumed that someone viewing the page is there to either locate a watched thread or edit their options! This is a waste of resources.
The followed content page gives an error when trying to view "Writ" content. (I have not followed any, and at the time none may have been in the system since it seems to be a new thing. Still, this needs to be a use-case that is checked for! You can't presume that content or follows will exist! Very basic coding error.)
Like pretty much EVERYONE has mentioned, pre-existing BBcode is not translated upon loading. I have no idea why. This is pretty much pathetic.
WYSIWYG editor eats delete-key presses when text is selected. This appears to happen most often when the selected text is near the end of a line, or crosses a line-wrap. Apparently a space outside the selected area gets deleted, and the text must be selected and deleted a second time for the delete to work.

When you put your cursor over a signature with link, the cursor doesent changed.
and the page load is still slow, no change from the old layout

Don't update your servers, upgrade them.
