Golems are ancient mythology , besides other examples it would seem the game is using the old Hebrew references to them . They were supposedly created to protect Jewish villages and people , it dates back thousands of years . Golems having the squidward head is perfect since they are created in the villagers image . As far as the Iron Golems giving flowers to kids , that comes from the scene in Frankenstein . Much older references , that the cartoon obviously used...but yeah the whole golem thing is very old and even Frankenstein himself is a Golem as well .

Is it just me, or is Minecraft becoming Battlecraft? Yes, it's nice to have something to build against, and almost nobody will tell you that having villages to protect is a bad thing; but I seriously haven't seen much official attention to the actual mining basics of the game.
Agree with that! They're focusing pretty hard on the damn villages, they should release 1.2!
I agree that mining should be improved, but the villager AI should have been finished for the official release. Actually a lot of this stuff in 1.1 and 1.2 should have been in the official release. Official releases should never have useless buttons like the world type.

I think trading and their ability to build new structures should be implemented (They could tie into each other, too) so there is some "Hussle and bussle" in the village. I would like to see some villager interaction too, like villagers going to church, drinking at a tavern, or farming. I kind of think it'd be cool to have a "Town Hall" where the Golemns could be kept (Like during the day). Mines, farms (like with animals) and maybe even a golemn "factory" could be built, and depending on the amount of iron, stone, wood, etc. you give them. Then there would be more golemns in the village (A cool idea would be to have them give one too you-as a reward). Back to villager interaction, mineshafts, like the abandoned ones, could be built, and you could steal\trade for the resources you could find. The coolest thing would be entire villages interacting with each other, like trade routes, alliances, wars over resources, and combining their villages to create a larger one. I'd love to see at least one of these ideas implemented, since it would make finding (or raiding!) a village a lot more rewarding!
I think that the Villagers should make Iron Golems on their own. The amount of Golems created will be that of half of the current vilalger population. Villagers building their own houses would be nice. That could be one of the quests, give them x amount of stone, wood, ladders and they will give you a new quest after finishing this one to build a stone golem. They will give you ingredients to make one as well. And i think farming quest would be good for stuff as well. Farmer wishes to replant the harvest food. Give him a Hoe, Seeds, etc. Blacksmiths, bring them iron ore and they will randomly give you a Iron pick, Sword, Shovel, Axe, or hoe.
why i cant see iron golems? i craft them but they are invisible, i read in the wiki that sometimes they spawn normal, dirty or invisible but i have made 5 golems and all are invisible, i also see the rose floating in mid air and the particles in the floor when they move but allways invisible, also natural spawned golems :/
