What i would really like to see is more Options with Obsidian blocks, like Obsidian stairs and half blocks, and tools as well would be sweet! and maybe ever marble (a mix of smooth stone and Obsidian) that would be sweet!
But Overall i am quite pleased with the snapshot, though i am just waiting for 1.2 to come out so i can update my server so it has ocelots and jungles! then the real work starts on building towns and placing NPC's and writing quests. Ohh the JOYS!!!
Stop with the snapshots ffs and just update Minecraft OMG.
The alternative to weekly snapshots would simply be getting nothing at all. There is no reason at all to even expect an update to the game of any kind at all, and it is due to the generosity of Mojang and tradition that they are even letting us see the progress of the game. In fact, if this was more like a real gaming company that didn't care about its customers, they would even be charging money for game updates.

The next update will be ready when it is ready, and frankly I'm impressed that a real release schedule is happening with snapshots to find the bugs where the "official version" is actually stable. In the past (before version 1.0 "gold edition") any time there was a "x.0" release it was usually so buggy that the game was unusable.
I very much like this snapshot approach to software development as the developers are striving for a bug-free release rather than something so buggy that responsible players are refusing to update the game. I really don't want to go back to the days when an update was a crap shoot in terms of if somebody was going to be broken or not.
Iron golems can add a whole new fase to the game and give meaning to building forts/castles. The current iron overload in the game would also be not a bother any more and all we need is for the golems to.....
- be able to be ordered to stay on a spot. (like dogs and cats do)
- attack hostile mobs if they come in range of sight( like they do in villages)
- follow you (like dogs/cats do)...give it a flower !!
- patrole/walk around in area not following you( like in towns)
- attack on command !!!!

Those chests have existed since 1.1, and I wouldn't recommend hitting an iron golem because they can kill you in 1 hit.
There's a problem with the new terrain generation/chunk spawning code. Chunks do not render correctly and do not blend with other chunks as well anymore. After spawning a new world I discovered a plains biome chunk that had been cut short by an ocean chunk. Instead of meshing the two chunks into each other, one chunk abruptly ends with a strait drop all the way down to water level all along its eastern boundary, regardless of height.
I have a screenshot but its saved locally; i doesn't have a URL so I don't know how to upload it.

you do realize we can't see inside your computer right?
It takes around 15 hits with a Diamond Sword to kill one though, having 50 hearts. You'd have to drown them for it to be practical. I found like 4 stacks of iron during 1 hour of spelunking, so it's an ineffective way to get iron.
