I'm probably one of the few who remember before 1.9 beta that notch added a new cloud system that would push clouds around objects.
I'm curious as to how you remember that when I'm almost certain that was never a feature. I've played since alpha and one of the first things I built was a castle that breached the cloud level, and I always had to deal with clouds getting inside the top bits. Besides, why would he remove something like that?
I just went through the changelog and there's no mention of that feature, although I would like something like that. I also saw no mention of worlds with unlimited height anywhere in development.
Anyways, I can't wait to start building things with the new height limit. I kinda see what people are saying about how he should've made it go deeper too, but that just means you can make bigger holes in the ground. I know this is minecraft, not buildcraft, but I'm pretty sure people mostly loved the game because they could build awesome things, not just to dig a hole. I mean I know that there are people that just love to mine, but not much more could be done with deeper worlds, compared to what people can build with higher worlds, in my opinion.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Now Featuring Something Quest! Also, quite a few Minecraft Creations.
Perhaps a bit late, but when this happens you've corrupted your minecraft files. Delete your entire .minecraft folder, not just the minecraft.jar (maybe save your saves, texturepacks, etc), launch Minecraft.exe and it will download a fresh minecraft version. Try replacing the minecraft.jar again, this should work.
You can't patch the .jar with any mods including McPatcher/OptiFine/Spoutcraft/etc. These aren't supposed to work with the snapshot so they will corrupt your files again.

Not working :sad.gif:
Found the problem, fixed now
Well I love the idea of the 256 hight.. however. I really hope you take terrain generation into that and make some worlds with blocks that go that high. So far ive gone 10,000 blocks out and not found anything over 127.. so I'm rather bummed at the moment but its great news. I hope things work out with better terrain. I am very excited..
If anyone has a seed with a map that has terrain that high.. please post :smile.gif: thanks.
I agree with wallofchaos, would be great if there was higher mountains, although it is nice to know that there is a part of minecraft where, if you get to it, you will have no terrain interference while building. No creepers .
Pretty freakin cool! Unfortunately the terrain generation is the same, so no huge natural formations. (mountain biomes)
There are a couple bugs that I found.
1.) Trees will not grow naturally (or with bonemeal) above the standard limit.
2.) I found a hole in the bedrock at the bottom of the world. It was filled with stone instead.
This also happened to be immediately underneath a lava pool. (could have something to do with it)
No offense, but they look terrible.
heh, your right, i started in alpha! the reason its MINEcraft is because you had to MINE to craft and build!
Just, those noses!
The children look worse somehow.
Coming soon: Nintendo World Resource Pack
