This version proves, once and for all, that Mojang developers do not play minecraft.
Increasing the range of the y-axis, while keeping the sea level at the same value, only benefits the creative players.
Imagine what it would have been like to have the depths of the underground doubled, it would have been awesome.

I disagree, ~60 blocks of underground is already far enough, I seldom hit bedrock anyway, and it's a pain to dig all the caves and areas looking for caves, mines or even worse, strongholds. If they increased the underground, it would be an invitation to start using X-ray to find stuff, because no, I am not going to dig 6400 stone blocks to find a cave or a chest with a bread on it, sorry.
BTW I play exclusively survival hard, never played creative mode. And yet, I still build huge structures that will benefit a lot from the new height.
Totally on board with the way they implemented the new height, it was ALWAYS supposed to be about creating new heights, not new mines.
Other than that, I hope they fix all the bugs on this release (lightning, caves missing) so I can start ... digging!
I used a stronghold ender portal in creative and i spawned on the obsidian platform, but the end stone island was gone. Just me and the enderdragon. The new way of not saving empty space has probarbly got a bug, and isn't saving the end at all. Check it out plz.
Half of the game is ****ed, so i think this will be a quite interesting snapshot.
I think it is caused by new chunk-section system.
Don't forget, that snapshots just for testing of new features and finding bugs.
When I try to use incorrect command: /set time 0, I get

Lol some people need to remember that its just a snapshot, not an official release. Of COURSE there is going to be bugs, some severe (World breaking) thats why you back up your world as always. The baby villagers are hilarious....

WOW your right!
That must be why they call it buildcraft, oh wait....

NEW BUG: Spawning a Zombiepigman at the top of the map crashes the game. It was in a desert, at a 1 block wide tower of netherrack on creative mode, and the SAVING CHUNKS screen appeared when I spawned it. I was doing it to try out the rare drops.
agreed that water is very translucent also.
i love the height build increase, but does seem to lag more even with default textures and low settings.
i think the zombie pounding doors is wayyyy too loud.
babies are cool.. where are the ladies? are all villagers gay? lol

Enter that and you'll score one hundred thousand rupees for us both, along with a spiffy card!
All the bugs I know, in there /\

I'm probably one of the few who remember before 1.9 beta that notch added a new cloud system that would push clouds around objects.
