Hmmm i tested the Villager A.I. in a custom made village, i placed him in the church and at the time it was dark and he kept goign outside but went back inside immediately and this continued for a while, but still a good progress. I hope in a future snapshot that we will be able to assign the villagers to specific spots so they will go there when it becomes Night time and when it starts to rain.
to all of you who cant install the snapshot/server try using mc version changer then you can make your nazi zombie maps and what not also great snapshot

To me, i think the Villagers should be more than passive, I think we should be able to switch them into different roles, from passive to agressive.
Aggressive Villager: Axe, Swordsman, Archer you can even give them armor. They will attack Skeletons and Zombie on site. And will attack other villagers if you tell them to.
Passive Villager: Does not do anything but you can give them stuff, Giving them a weapon will make them into an aggressive villager but will not attack you unless attacked. (Will not follow you around but will defend itself from Zombies, and skeletons.
Now zombies drop rarely some iron bars and iron tools, and skeles sometimes drop bows.
Oh yeah, zombies now hate villagers and villagers are afraid from zombies!
I hate the "Zombies will break down doors" one. That's stupid, they force us to either on a different difficulty, which i don't want, or use iron doors, which in my opinion are a pain in the ass, and they look bad in most cases.
I think it's great. It forces you to consider safety more. If you want to keep wooden doors, I guess you could rig something up using redstone that has a piston that pushes a block across the doorway if the door is no longer there and does not activate when you open the door unless you flick a switch. Kinda like an automated defence against zombies ^^

Edit: zombie can drop anything iron from iron sword to iron ore to iron armor same for zombie pigmen except with gold.
Also they don't drop rare when killed by natural causes.
Methinks it's a bug >.> Wouldn't be much point in doors if they could break iron ones too x.x
