Why not give the kids diamonds if they answer vocab or math junk? that should keep the kids from running off cliffs (that would sound pretty weird if you didn't know i was talking about minecraft)

95% of teens would scream if Justin Beiber was about to jump of the top of the Empire State Building. If you are in the 5% that would grab a seat and some popcorn and yell JUMP! JUMP! JUMP! post this into your sig.
Reminds me of the Portal 2 thing Valve was doing by giving dev kits to teachers. I really think that gamer teachers can create edutainment that is actually entertaining for the students.
This is a really incredible bit of technology and plan they have set up. I don't see this as becoming a big standard thing in your average middle school or elementary school. But Im pretty sure for schools looking for a alternative to learning with hand eye coordination and keeping your kids entertained while also learning is a amazing idea, and with minecraft just makes that idea amazing.
Brilliant stuff, cant wait to see what this turns into.
I really like how this is going. I really hope that teachers will realize that Minecraft could be a game of fun and learning. There is a 75% chance my school will do this. We have a Lego program that is very similar but not as good as Minecraft. So hopefully this will replace Lego. Keep up the good work Joel

I was like, yeeeeeeeess! Finally, games have been made into something both fun and educational for schoolers to use! I can't wait I can....... And then he said,"so I look forward to using this with my second graders," .".......oh, well.............. Yeah of course I wasn't expecting to use this in year 10, duh.... and then he went on to say how he turned off pvp and monsters to make it less scary for the kids,.... Monsters are like 50% of the joys of minecraft as well as pvp, and then I saw the comands list, enable building, enable talking,... Wut? And then he said about freezing the kids in a spot and not allowing them to explore.. Ok I know it's ment for educational perpouses, but is this even minecraft anymore, wait, is this even a GAME anymore? None the less, minecraft in school is a massive win in my oppinion, even though I'm probobaly never going to use minecraft in school like this, but you never know, they might try to explain electrical currents and sercuits using redefine, XD
I want to give a big thumbs up to him (more like cut it and give it to him but i need it for game time obviously xD) for making this a huge success for kids to experience more fun and less stress in all sorts of situations.
I think its a bad idea. I'm an 8th grade student and I wouldn't want this in my school. People in my school already sit on FPS games a lot so they need a break at school. Also it will be pointless if you cant do anything that minecraft was made for. He took away Adventure, freedom, and survival from minecraft which practically makes it not minecraft anymore. Not trying to be a troll or hater.
