Great. More changes that will eff up my world. This is the reason I waited until the "full release" of Minecraft to start my server, but ya know... I guess that doesn't really matter.
I hate that you have to pick one extreame or the other. I like maps as they are now, maybe less water would be nice. Frankly i could do without the super mountians, they arnt good for much but why do i have to take a no hills boring map to get rid of them?
Really, truly, after years of development, in the post-release near future this game might be able to get past the "basic f--king map" stage and they can start adding that magical stuff called "content".
I really hope the new terrain generation gives us the ability to choose how much of a particular biome we want, since the one thing I would want on an island start is the ability to choose how rare the islands in an ocean biome will be, and to have even a small amount of control over how many trees there are on a given island would be great!
For the terrain generator itself, I would want the ability to choose what type of terrain I want to start on. The current start location algorithm is terrible at picking start locations, and you often wind up in an ocean or somewhere equally horrible, like that lava seed someone posted about. How difficult can it be to have the terrain generator pick out where you start based on criteria you input? An island is perfectly acceptable to start with, however, whether or not it has a tree on it does matter considerably in what I will do next, if it has no tree, I pick one of the four coordinate based directions, and go swimming in an ocean on peaceful mode until I can actually find some wood to work with! There really isn't much I can do with a treeless island, and while I enjoy the challenges random maps like this bring, it is a lot more interesting if there is actually a tree to work with!
Finally, a word on island spawn itself: Let there be some small amount of animal spawn on islands, you have no idea how unappealing zombie flesh and spider eyes are to try and survive on! Can we at least have an ability to remove or neutralize the poisonous part of those two monster loot drops to craft something palatable to people, and which can be crafted in the 2x2 crafting grid? Wheat is terribly slow to grow from grass seeds until you can successfully kill skeletons which depends on having a tree to get a stone quarry, tree farm, and a weapon to kill them with! Lastly, invent palm trees for islands and deserts - and in particular sandy islands - but make them only common in deserts around water holes, and nearby!
I would like to see something along the lines of all of the land is mountainous, but like villages, huge biomes of leveled plains and hilly outskirts surrounding them.
This would make town building much easier, while eliminating the need to use valuable time trying to use World Edit or Voxel Sniper to make the terrain around your town look more natural.
Okay first of all, it sounds like jeb is the worst thing to ever happen to minecraft. I mean, I have always wanted a flat naturally generated world, but not that flat! I mean I want it to be like a normal landscape where its flat far enough for you to build something all on the same surface but there should still be hills and and mountains! And making the game with more mountains is so stupid! Its too mountainous as it is!
What?
There are only mountins in mountin biomes now, and you want a flat map....with mountain?
Nice contradictions.
Jeb is the best thing to happen to minecraft!
