Ok I have no cule what's going on but notch said: 1.0.0 is the final game. now when a game updates doesn't always mean its a beta.
a beta is mostly a demo or half a game but the way i see it its a full game bugs need to be fixed and I mean look at PS3 and Xbox their games update as much as Minecraft
in games their will be bugs glitches and hackers but these up dates fix them. all i got to say is its just fixing on things we may not even know about.
okay, I'm just going to say this once.. I have absolutely NO problem playing pre-releases, but please PLEASE mojang, can you at least make installing them easier? something like adding a button on the launcher to auto-update to the current pre-release instead of constantly having to download it, go to my download folder, copy the damn thing, find wherever the heck my bin folder is, paste it, delete my old one, rename it, and restart minecraft.
It's alot of work to do weekly whereas with some sort of auto-update button/feature, you could also ensure that the game doesn't get leaked as easily since you could force the player to login to get said pre-release updates as well.
Mojang's inability to post patch notes should stop IMO
The full game is out. People are paying full price now. When you change the game, it's your responsibility to at least say what you did.
Every patch is exciting, but people are left in the dark and confused when you say absolutely nothing as to what changes have been made.
Nothing requires them to post patch notes for pre-releases. At all. I'll compare Minecraft to World of Warcraft. Blizzard doesn't even always post patch notes and hotfix notes to the public always. They change stuff on the Public Test Realms all the time without posting what they did.
Also, we're talking about pre-release here. Just like Public Test Realms, nothing says you have to play on the pre-release versions. They're put out preemptively for those who wish to test them so that Mojang can use crowd sourcing to sniff out bugs they might not come across. It's for your own good that they do pre-releases.
And to top it off, if you're playing on 1.0.0, you're not asked to update to the pre-release when you start up the game (Like you would be asked to update to 1.0 if you are on beta 1.8 still). You have to go out of your way to get the pre-release anyways.
The player base's inability to realize the purpose of pre-releases should stop IMO
