To those complaining about Mojang should do their own bugtesting: Considering they are not a large company, I would think they wouldn't have the resources to find every bug. Your statement here seems to allege that bugs are easy to find for a dozen guys who aren't already busy with other things. You could not be more wrong. Mojang is asking its community to help out to find the bugs so the game can be all the more fun for all of us. If you can't be bothered to help out, don't. Plenty of the rest of us are more than willing to do our part to help out in a game we enjoy.

In the real world, you stick your head in the dirt to hide from problems.
In Minecraft, you stick your head in the dirt to find problems.
Lot of critisism about this being not a realease of the game but a beta after beta. Any of you play WOW or Skyrim? Everygame has bugs. If you played WOW you can see that they update all the time. Mojang is just more on top of it and updates more frequently. I think they are doing a great job so far.
this pre-release is for fixing bugs that either appeared with 1.0 or were low priority during beta, now that jeb and notch aren't in a crunch to get the worst of the bugs fixed they can work on all the others that people have been complaining about, them continuing to release weekly "pre-releases" is so that we as a community can make sure the fixes are working and that no new bugs appeared. think of it as the Public Test Realms for World of Warcraft or the Singularity server for EVE Online except that sometimes the patch will only have bug fixes and no new content.
personally i think people shouldn't complain about patches with no content, let mojang add content when they feel like it, just because a patch doesn't any anything new and exciting doesn't mean mojang isn't working on anything, and for those that complain that minecraft still feels like beta, look at all the other games that have been released with bugs, Skyrim, BF3, MW3 etc, i don't recall any game being released completely bug free and not needing patches immediately. as long as the developers acknowledge the bugs and work on fixing i'm happy.
All I really want for christmas is GLOWSTONE TO BE MADE STONE AGAIN. It really screws up lots of redstone and makes lightswitches a lot harder to make. If it's meant to glass, well then call it glowglass.
Can someone check and see if it is still glass in this version?
I don't normally like downloading pre-releases because that means I would have to make a new world for the update to take effect? Is this avoidable? is there a way that I can update my pre-existing worlds?
Well, if you fast travel far away from your old area, new chunks will generate with the new biome code.

I saw it earlier in the thread and I completely agree... NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO PLAY THE "RELEASE"... just keep doing what your doing, I enjoy the releases myself. If your not for it don't complain about it.... Mojang isn't doing anything wrong.
