Wow, that Beta 1.2 update at the beginning of 2011 was quite a milestone! Charcoal and bone meal are two of the best things to happen for those of us who are more into farming than mining. And then the end of the year gave farmers more great things: pumpkin and melon vines, and animal breeding.
Also this year, Mojang added and refined pistons for more mechanical possibilities, reinvented biomes and structures to make the world more exciting to explore, and even added an ending for those who want a game-defined objective. It's great to see how Minecraft has grown to offer such breadth of possible experiences.
i loved mucking around with TNT engineering and all, the sand traps, piston doors, exploding chests(god that was funny) and the community, i reckon 1.8 was the best update, that still kept the simplicity but added a sense of adventure. I remember times when i was ravine exploring with my mates, fighting off monsters and falling off the narrow bridges that we made, we also teased endermen, found double-dungeons and threw eggs and snowballs at each other. We fought, We built, We played Minecraft!
on my own private server, i had booby trapped my friends chest, so when he tried to open it it exploded in his face!
The server i played helped me from the start, with gifts of diamonds and cobble, instructions on how to train wolves, i even picked up a style of building from them. good times...

Free + Crabs + Ability to trample/suffocate opponents in Cortex Command = Free Bombs.
I remember once,I was using teamviewer and watched my friend play,he accidentaly made some obsidian and didnt know what it is(neither did I!) and then,we thought what he could use to destroy it(he spent 3 minutes mining it with a iron pickaxe!XD) then I went and checked what the block was,and he went to kill creepers to make some TNT.As I was checking the wiki and saw that you need a diamond pick to mine it,he lit up the TNT.I remember how I was yelling:EXTINGUISH IT NO WAIT STOP!at the screen xD.Then he ggot a diamond pick and mined it,were still laughing when we remember it.P.S. I started minecraft January 2011 :Dor more like november 2010..I remember it didnt even have more than 1 wool type!
I remember when I started Minecraft, I knew, well, not a lot. I watched half a tutorial and figured out a wood pick and coal and all that, but I remember my first nights on several different worlds all being spent with 4 walls around me, no roof, spiders crawling inside, and skeletons jumping up and shooting at me till I died. This was back in B1.3. Since then, I have learned how to make a roof and a door. And how to pwn minecraft...
ah i remember 1.1._02, when i first got minecraft. then mthe first server i went to, it was survival bukkit. heh, admins were never on, only moderators who were horrible. the first decent server i went to quickly got whitelisted and i was forgoten in the 1.4 update. i remember minecraft black screened when i tried to instal my first mod, industrycraft...i may have had a panic attack. turns out i forgot modloader. owch. then i made my own server with industrycraft for me and ike. fun times, even though neither of us even knew toomanyitems existed. OR server commands.... then we went nuts with the wolf update, created crazy things with pistons on a new public server, and tested more multiplayer mods and maps. i found flans mod great for huge maps and balkons mod exelent with vechs maps. (fun times not at all being sarcastic) ...not to mention discovering bukkit! now i run a semi-private server and am getting higher ranks on public servers, am exelent at testing mods, have survived 2 superhostile maps, and have seen a major update, the adventure update. quite a tale, i think ive had the full beta experience. (not to mention all those unplanned trips deep lava diving and diamond bombing hosted by the generous creeper family) im happy with minecraft yet cant wait to see it get to its fullest state! good work notch and good luck jeb!

I'm greatly disappointed about the removal of the sky-lands. Someone should do something. The End is not a satisfactory replacement. -Diehard Sky-pirate
Best mod ever was the piston mod. But, I only started using it in 1.6.6, so the official pistons came before I got to use it. Still, I love making epic traps and pop-out art.
Also, Notch needs to nerf Enderdragons, I hack-enchanted my diamond sword to Sharpness 20 (17 levels after normal III), and it still does the same damage.
I want more updates because it would make the game more awesome and maybe adding some new blocks would be cool... I wish they would make gold tools stronger too....
