The Aether mod was big stuff, i really liked it. Also, i bought the game at Christmas and was really happy about it. The first wolf, texture packs, the first skin(Tuxedo. Looking sharp.) And so many things more. 2011 was a big time for Minecraft. Hope 2012 will be better!
I was already playing and doing stuff in Minecraft in 2010 so it wasn't new for me in 2011. But I got to say, I do love doing new things that were added to the game in 2011.
Not to mention I finally started my ultimate build ever. Of course it failed to get off the ground.
i remember my very first creeper encounter back in late 1.2_2 early 1.3 somewhere around there
i was digging in the sand out side my very first house (a cobblestone hut just enough room for me and a torch) when all of a sudden i hear a hissing noise i look around and there it was a green penis coming right for me i tried to escape the hole only to fail i died and scream and my grandfather in the other room was like " BOBBY WHATS WRONG!? " and i was ashameed to tell the truth so i replied "im watching a scary video!"! good times
Minecraft sure had lot of memories... Taming wolves, adventuring ,playing with mods. I remember when I installed my first mod (mo creatures). I was so proud of myself but then the next day minecraft updated :l long live Minecraft!
Well, my favorite texture pack has to be Misas HD texture pack, i love that she has moving textures and glimmering metals. My favorite mod right now is in the middle of being created, its called MythiCraft, its an In-Depth RPG mod that allows the player to live out there wildest imagination, from killing or taming dragons to becoming king and conquering Cities! This mod is going to be great, I hope you guys check it out, it looks like its going to skyrocket!

Through Minecraft and through this forum I have meet many people, made many friends and built up lots of relations with people from around the world and all from the chair i'm sitting in.
I've found a band of friends that i make sure i talk to everyday and we've even set up a you tube account together.
This year had been a very memorable year.
Looking ahead i hope that 2012 is just as fun and just as rewarding.
There's so much to do,
I just hope i can do it all.
I think the best part of MC is the community, just looking at how many people post videos about minecraft, how many people make mods, how many people come to this forum on a daily basis just to support Mojang and others in the community. While there are trolls and griefers out there, there is still that core community who will never give up on minecraft, and who will never believe we've actually reached The End.
The Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.

I was told about Minecraft by a friend in May, Beta 1.6.6 to be exact, and I am impressed by the additions since then. Strongholds, Abandoned Mine-shafts, Nether Forts. Although I was disappointed when the Sky Dimension was turned into The End, and No ores or anything like that was added to the Nether.

I remember the first map I loaded and my first shelter that was in a cave in the side of a mountain, and then my first house which burned down, then my second house with the tunnels that lead to my mines and caves and my obsidian farm, and my nether portal and my minecart tracks... AHH alpha... so many memories!

If a creeper blows up in a forest and no one is around to witness it, does it make a sound?
The first time I played Minecraft was last year, Spring 2011. And what a ride it has been! Since 1.6, Minecraft has changed so much! Pistons, Shears, Fractal Terrain, Day/Night, Potions, Enchanting, Villages, Creative mode, Melon/Pumpkin Farming, Animal Breeding, Dragons, The End!
Of course, to me, half of the Minecraft experience are the mods. I no longer play Minecraft without at least one mod involved (OptiFine).

Elegant as the Wind, Silent as a Forest, Mysterious as the Ocean,
Fierce as Fire, Immovable as a Mountain, Righteous as the Light!
i remember back in 1.3 when i first got minecraft, the game was so new, i felt amazing from even the smallest things i created, then as the game spiraled into the enw update i was still amazed and decided to try a texture pack and modloader, amazing times new things were on every horizon and the game never gets old from the countless hours i spend playing it i still find that there is more things to discover now i am a very good builder and i will take any challenge, my typing speed also increased massively as i progress to the path of the pro, now there is a list of people who i thank for my abilities, risugami for his modloader, tanzanite/zombe for his amazingly useful modpack murizioyugi for my first server that i ever remember playing on, arsonist? for the second server i followed for a long time, and raymond21211 who i follow today, and somewhere along the line of typing this my font got messed up. man i feel like i typed much more then i thought i did when i started this, well i doubt that even half of you are reading this anyways lastly thanks mojang
I think my favorite texture pack from this year was Painterly. It was the first texture pack that I got to work, and has had SO many options. My favorite mod hands down was Industrial Craft, as it added tons of cool features.
I remember playing back during the halloween update...that first world of mine. I can remember all the terrain and each and every one of my buildings. I burnt the forest down and the eternal wood bug turned it into a hellish landscape Ah, Minecraft...

20 Mins is 1 minecraft day.
20 * 365 = 7300
7300 / 60 ~= 122
122 / 60 ~= 2
Therefore, one year in Minecraft is only 2 days in real time! >
