So is this just like the prereleases, but just to "clean up" the game? Same in concept but different in purpose?
no.
This is what they are pretty sure the update is going to be no more adding only bug fixes....IF you find any. so most likely we are looking at a "candidate" for 1.0
I discovered a bug with farming, when I place a normal wheat seed next to another it destroys them both and doesn't give me the seeds back. Hope you read this, Notch :smile.gif:
if you want to help by being noticed as a bug reported which is very helpful and jeb would like that, report this to the WIKI page instead of it getting buried on here. or go to this TOPIC.
Make sure it's not on there first before adding it though.
@chewbacca180: Only in Creative mode, I just tried it on Survival and a Creeper attacked me. Didn't blow up, because I managed to kill it with my sword, but it DID attack.

OK, I'll edit this post for changes I see. 1:Door Sounds 2: Enderman Sounds 3: EXP Collect Sound 4: HOLY CRAP!!! MONSTERS ARENT AGGRESIVE!!!!!! 5: Lilly Pads More Abundant 6. I. Block Tex
The really interesting thing with door and chest sounds is that that has also changed in 1.8 now.The biggest issue I have with the RC2 server is logging in (bad enough that I haven't play tested much). I've seen simular 'connection errors' in 1.9 pre's, but there was reference to a 'server key' problem. I'm wondering if this means that server admins are going to have to pay seperately for their server editions and get a validation key for it.
OK. Been steadily following and playing the prereleases so far (I missed pre6 though)...Some interesting changes. Some great, some annoying.
Currently here are my observations on RC2:
-Really not happy about the new treatment of glowstone. My main building material throughout my HUGE base in Creative is glowstone...and my pressure plates which activated sliding piston doors disappeared, and when I replaced those sections of floor with a normal stone block, and replaced the pressure plates, some (but not all...) of the doors started working again. If glowstone is now acting like glass, it should be transparent, not opaque! What's the point?
Also, as soon as I ran a minecart over my long sections of track (which were laid on glowstone), every piece of track removed itself. Lovely. Thankful I made a backup of my smoothly running pre5 jar.
-Mobs spawning in seemingly random places, like on stone and glass. I didn't think they could do that.
-I threw Eye of Ender until it pointed to a place in the ground, dug down in a roughly 8x8 area, all the way to bedrock...and found no stronghold. I kept throwing more Eye of Ender just to make sure I was in the right position, and it kept landing in one spot, so I increased the area where I was digging. Found a huge cave system, but still no stronghold. What's up with that? It used to work.
-Loving the new SFX. Endermen are so much more intriguing now. I like the arrow, chest, experience, and explosion sounds. Squid should make some kind of little noise when you hit them.

Okay, i realised the door sounds but the funny part is i spotted it today when i looged into 1.8.1 i was like wtf i never realised this was what the doors sounded like, lol i think they changed them into 1.8 omtime recently without telling anyone haha
oh and when you fall of somthing like a tree it makes a cool landing noise it sounds like bones crunching
i know i am just pinting out that when i logged into minecraft 1.8 the new door ounds were there but i think they were recetly added to 1.8 without anyon ebeing told

It was your resources folder that got updated/changed.
that is where the game sounds are stored and when you logged in today connecting to the server you must of had something small load and update, which was the sounds :wink.gif:
if he made it 4 bit only, that would ****ING SUCK because i dont have my own computer i have to use my dads or my mums and i doubt they would buy me a new one just so i can play this
Tried it when it was released, and I miss the old sounds =/
Door/hatch/fence gate sound is going to get REALLY annoying after a while.
Chest sound is alright...but I don't know why they didn't just keep the old chest/door sound for the current chest. That would have been perfect.
Explosion sound (TNT/Creeper) has grown on me a bit, although the old explosion sound will still be gravely missed.
Arrow sound is horrible..it sounds nothing like an arrow.
The "throwing sound" (for eggs, enderpearls, and snowballs) is pretty good. The old one sounded to much like you were launching a catapult.
Fall damage sound is alright.
Enderman sound is perfect.
Haven't heard the silverfish sound yet.
Over all, I don't like the changes they made. The old sounds were much better =/

well most people do like the old sounds just because they were used to them.
I do gotta say i like the new sounds in my opinion only things i would ask to change is different sounds for iron doors so it does not sound like a wooden door and TNT. TNT needs to get a more "explosive" sound.

Please pretty please fix the glowstone!
