they are releasing this on Xbox cause XBLA has an indie game support and PSN doesn't so minecraft can jump in on the band wagon and get people who don't have a great computer or no computer access at all and buy minecraft for their console. its a great way to get more people in to this game. pretty smart move on their end
I have to agree with this . . With over 57 million Xbox 360's sold, who wouldn't want to have their game sold on that platform? . . .
It's not at all about the PC / Console dispute, it's about what is smart for your business. . . and Mojang is a business.
. . . Don't worry PC users, I'm sure Mojang will never do anything to jeopardize the PC customer base. I think this company has one of the best customer relations out there . . .
why would i buy it on the 360 i wouldn't have any mods and if i really wanted to i could hook up a xbox controller and hook up my pc screen to sow into my tv srry dont know what they are called tho I would maybe consider buying it if people who have already bought the game get a discount or something then i would consider buying it till then ill use my cables to make it feel like its on the xbox for a cheaper price
I really hope xbox supports a well working multiplayer system, rather than total miner's gay "world sharing" crap.
i really hope there will be SMP and CMP, i have this hunch that minecraft on xbox is going to be focused more on creative mode, being that it is considered an aracade game =/.....
wait wait you have spoken to notch and hes told you that he hasnt added suport for it and have you taken into acount usb drives AND have you taken into acount flashed xboxes(J-Tags) that can interface with the code unencrypted AND AND im out of things to say but do some research before you jump to conclusions he did say that hes adding modding support for pc although he might do it for xbox but it wouldnt be a definite without the mods being verified first because of ovious red ring of death death code or some virus that overloads the xbox but even in the modding comunity for the xbox this is not comon iv seen about 0 viruses in modded xbox XEX files (yes its .XEX files to start the game)
nOT to be a douche. But didnt Microsoft's latest update Disable Jtagged Xbox's? im not trying to be mean. I love my 360
1.) After minecrafts initial hype and sandbox experience wore off, people realized the game could only ever reach its potential if enhanced by creativity/ingenuity (which the game was founded on) and thus the modding community began. I don't know of any minecraft SMP server that doesn't have a few mods on it to make it unique above the rest. Who really wants to play straight vanilla minecraft anymore - sorry to say, but it does get old. The only reason it hasn't hit a dead end yet is because Notch has been putting out and promising more content.
2.) Notch hinted a modding API system which was supposedly on the horizon for 1.8 and that never happened. What did happen however, is implementation of existing mods into the core of minecraft (pistons, new lighting engine)... Can anyone say mooch?
3.) Minecraft continually suffers from being written in Java. People who play on 32-bit systems can't even run minecraft with a far render distance because it runs out of memory... This has been a problem since the inception of minecraft and yet Notch makes no effort to port the game to C++. However... He released the portable version of minecraft ported to C++ and now he lets another business port his game to C++ for the XBOX 360... It makes you wonder if Notch really even knows what he's doing or if he's just flying by the seat of his pants from day to day...
Bottom line... This is a PC game made popular by the fans of the game (mods) and has no place being in the console world where big business (microsoft, sony) lords over every transaction... Minecraft has been a game created for the fans, by the fans... Minecraft would be Nothing without its modding community and to further ignore support for it is only going to hurt minecraft in the long run... There will be no modding or texture packs within the XBOX version, just a straight up vanilla version which can't compare in the least to modded versions of minecraft which add endless features to the game which Notch has so conveniently ignored or dare I say "stolen" as he saw fit.
We need to bring minecraft back to the fans... To our obsessive compulsive creations and fantastical imaginations...
Why would I want to buy a game on xbox when I have it for PC already? Doubt xbox will have any modding support and very poor multiplayer, which is half of what is great about minecraft.
1.i don't have a xbox
2.no money
3.no mod/texture support
4.brought minecraft on pc
basically this for me too
I mean... sure go ahead and make this version (they already are in development I know calm down)
but for me it's a no go
for the same reasons
no money, so I can't buy another console (already have ps3)
I usually keep a modded minecraft file, no mods not as much options
I suppose they will probably sell the add-ons
and I would be unable to purchase them after a certain amount
all I see are Fan-boy replies so far, whine whine whine.
Here's why it's a great thing, or at least possibilities of great things:
Dedicated Hosted Servers
All systems the same - all easy 100% compatible gameplay
Multiplayer achievements that mean something
Hack Resistant
XRay Resistant
More openly available 'join in' play network, face it finding servers on PC is tough for good ones, host and have lists such as the Database in multiplayer console control and it's nearly instant join access.
Lag removal.
Kinect Possibilities.
The only reason you don't seem to like it is - you can't mod/edit the game (and most of those mods ruin the games real Core Values, like SURVIVAL) and/or you whine you have a PS3 (that was your choice btw)
So stay on PC, play your pitiful 'everything is given to you with edit commands' servers and provide less congestion for the real players.
